Late to Oa: Green Lantern the live action movie.

Let me say this first, my hate for Hal Jordan the character is only exceeded by my disdain for Barry Allen.
But even Hal didn't deserve what Reynolds did to him. He was just not heroic at all in the movie, he came across more whiny and put upon than a hero. Speaking the oath should have been a "Hulk Smash" moment but it sounded like he was just reciting a shopping list. Hector was pretty cool even thought they didn't give him enough of a warmup. I don't know how they thought a shit cloud was more scary then a space bug that could create anything. And Waller was just wasted. Oh god the CGI suit was just bad, one of those few superhero costumes that could look alright in real life and they fuck it up.

One of my two favorite heroes, I was saddened by the movie.
Just wasn't that good. I always thought Ryan would make a better Flash than Green Lantern. Stuff like that and Deadpool is right up his alley. I expect Guy Gardner from him, not Hal. Micheal Fassbender would make a good choice if they ever revisit the film.

I think you're wrong there, but it was handled poorly in the movie. The comics are interesting because of the unique appeal of a galactic army. Had WB followed that kind of broad canvas through they could of had a star trek level-appeal to this film. But they just cock-teased elements and set it mainly on earth. Was complete shit.

i am of the opposite opinion. Should have stuck more in space. have only one bad guy/ threat and better effects company. Sony Imageworks didn't do a good job and whoever over saw the production dropped the ball. |

John Stewart would have been the best choice for the "ability to over come great fear" aspect.

it's not a GAF movie thread until someone suggests casting Idris Elba in something.

Fucking terrible.
I don't think GL will ever work in real life, at least not for awhile, it requires way to much CGI to do properly. Also hal sucks, so does john, and kyle. Fuck humans. The Green lantern animated series has been amazing so far and has totally made up for the shit movie. |

preface: I don't know basically shit about comics or green lantern.
I enjoyed the movie. I didn't go to the theater for the movie and only saw it on demand, but I spent a worse two hours before. I don't go into any of these super hero movies expecting much and just take them for what they are. I enjoyed it. Thor was way worse to me. That shit was beyond boring. I thought the joke about covering his cheekbones was funny. |

I don't think any future superhero film will ever be capable of being as awful as Green Lantern. It makes me feel terrible that Mark Strong was in it, and he was possibly the only good thing about a film where the main antagonist is space diarrhea. |

Why I don't think it will work is because of his powers not aliens and space. CGI constructs just don't look right meshed with real people.
