Let me say this first, my hate for Hal Jordan the character is only exceeded by my disdain for Barry Allen.

But even Hal didn't deserve what Reynolds did to him. He was just not heroic at all in the movie, he came across more whiny and put upon than a hero. Speaking the oath should have been a "Hulk Smash" moment but it sounded like he was just reciting a shopping list.

Hector was pretty cool even thought they didn't give him enough of a warmup. I don't know how they thought a shit cloud was more scary then a space bug that could create anything. And Waller was just wasted.

Oh god the CGI suit was just bad, one of those few superhero costumes that could look alright in real life and they fuck it up.

Movie was not that bad, suit was fucking awesome, porbably the best thig they could do with it. Just look at Cap's Whedon television budget costume in the avengers for the worse.

One of my two favorite heroes, I was saddened by the movie.

Just wasn't that good. I always thought Ryan would make a better Flash than Green Lantern. Stuff like that and Deadpool is right up his alley. I expect Guy Gardner from him, not Hal.

Micheal Fassbender would make a good choice if they ever revisit the film.

I liked the first outfit, was expecting something like that. Oh well, from all accounts, it doesn't matter.

Reynold would be a perfect pre marriage Wally. When Wally was a bit of a screw up and a tinge douchy.

Too many villains, too much plot set-up, not enough character stuff.

I know I'll get knocked for saying it, but the movie never should have featured the Green Lantern Corps.

Only seen lantern from the cartoons. But to me hal lantern just seemed really generic. Like flash #2 or a crappy spiderman. John wouldve made a better lantern to make a movie out of I think.

too much earth, not enough space.

it's a very by the numers superhero flick and it suffers because it, you know what to expect and when. the predictability of the whole film makes for a snorefest.

I think you're wrong there, but it was handled poorly in the movie. The comics are interesting because of the unique appeal of a galactic army. Had WB followed that kind of broad canvas through they could of had a star trek level-appeal to this film. But they just cock-teased elements and set it mainly on earth. Was complete shit.

i am of the opposite opinion. Should have stuck more in space. have only one bad guy/ threat and better effects company. Sony Imageworks didn't do a good job and whoever over saw the production dropped the ball.

I remember wanting to stop watching within the first two minutes. I gave up somewhere in the first act.

I think it was the totally hokey way the ring brings Jordan to it that made me call it quits.

John Stewart would have been the best choice for the "ability to over come great fear" aspect.

It is hard to do a super movie when you have no real idea how super the hero is or WTF the villain is.

Green Lantern: First Flight is basically the same origin story told better, in only 75 minutes instead of 114. How is that possible?

I don't think GL will ever work in real life, at least not for awhile, it requires way to much CGI to do properly. Also hal sucks, so does john, and kyle. Fuck humans.

The Green lantern animated series has been amazing so far and has totally made up for the shit movie.

I don't think GAF's balls house enough semen to cater to the orgasmic explosion of all three of them in the same film...

I didn't mind the movie (caught it On Demand a couple weeks ago), but I also don't mind Ryan Reynolds. I was never a big Green Lantern reader, either. But, this breakdown of the movie, which is correct in every aspect, shames me.

A GL movie could have been done if it didn't try to force the "similarities" of Hal and Hector as well as the whole going to OA thing. You don't need fancy space aliens right off the bat.

preface: I don't know basically shit about comics or green lantern.

I enjoyed the movie. I didn't go to the theater for the movie and only saw it on demand, but I spent a worse two hours before. I don't go into any of these super hero movies expecting much and just take them for what they are. I enjoyed it. Thor was way worse to me. That shit was beyond boring.

I thought the joke about covering his cheekbones was funny.

I don't think any future superhero film will ever be capable of being as awful as Green Lantern. It makes me feel terrible that Mark Strong was in it, and he was possibly the only good thing about a film where the main antagonist is space diarrhea.

Why I don't think it will work is because of his powers not aliens and space. CGI constructs just don't look right meshed with real people.
