They were sacrificed, albeit very little (no perspective correction, no bilinear filtering, less simultaneous lights and more aggressive texture LOD - not to mention, the resolution). Still, it's probably one of the biggest technical stunners for the platform; and retains the hectic gameplay and visual punch the PC version has. Definitely one of my fondest games back in the day. Also, finally got to see MK in person (vita version). It's pretty damn rough looking visually, and the framedrops (which happen when it looks its worst, oddly enough) can be a bit jarring. That said, it plays very fast and retains damn near all the features of the console version from what I saw. Didn't see an option for system link co-op though. Is that missing? |

I believe the memory card actually stores your icon arrangement so whenever you switch it goes to the arrangement associated with that memory card. |

Pad game or not once you get used to using a stick it is hard to get accustomed to using a pad again. Sure it is no big deal since I am hardly great at fighting games. I will enjoy it regardless as content and tight gameplay is the appeal of this game.
Will be getting this game digital after I get the biggest memory card along with a VITA. Wasn't Sony planning to release the 64 gigabyte or was that my imagination?

I only got to play against two people over the weekend and yesterday, but overall all the matches I played were very smooth. I got voice chat when playing a friend in private matches. Don't know if that counts as party chat. With him most matches were smooth, but the game went at 30fps when there was lag. This did not feel choppy at all and worked better than I thought it would. I also played a series of ranked matches against the same player and experienced no noticeable lag all. The game plays better online for me than the PS3 version did, lol. Looking forward to trying out more matches when I get home. This game has me all into MK again.

Haha that's great! I had doubt about buying it today because of all the shitty gameplay pics I saw...but man I think I'm going to bite and go buy it RIGHT NOW. I love MK too much for skipping this. |

Just picked up the game about 30 minutes ago and while the character models are a little rough once you start playing you barely notice with it running at 60fps.
Haven't played online yet to see how smooth it is. Blood splatter doesn't seem to collect on the ground like I remember it doing in the console version. |

I changed my mind and decided to buy this when someone on the Eurogamer.net forum told me about SimplyGames.com and a Ł5 off Savygamer code which brought the cost down to a reasonable Ł23. I think I can live with mediocre graphics for that price as the amount of content makes up for them.

Some footage. It may not be a visual masterpiece, but people saying it looks shitty are full of shit.
Check out how smooth this is: |

I just got this, but my vita has a dead battery and doesn't feel like booting up.
Ah, there we go

So this game is even more complete than the "Komplete" edition, right? (ie. It has everything from the other versions, plus more?)
I don't even have a Vita yet and I'm not even really an MK fan but I'm tempted to get this for some reason. I guess I'm just really caught up in the fighting game renaissance we are in right now. |

Very glad I picked this up. I never bought it on the PS3/360 so this was a great way to jump in. Game runs silky smooth (framerate drops slightly after an X-Ray move) and the only time you really notice the lost resolution on the characters is when it jumps from how their rendered in story mode to how they look when you're fighting.
Overall it's a really solid game for the Vita, packed with a ton of stuff to do. |

Yeah, the game is awesome. Shame about the low res graphics, but during fights it isnt bothering me. It's just so smooth. Where it's bothering me is the text. The blurriness is making me think I need glasses. I hate blurry text. I can accept it in a game like Monster Hunter Freedom Unite because otherwise the PSP game looks and runs amazingly on the Vita, but Vita games should not look like that.

Just played through arcade mode. Looks good, plays great. My only wish is that this was in full resolution. The models look fine in motion, though.

As expected, it looks much better on the screen. Still not good for a Vita game but "OMG IT LOOKS LIKE A PSP OR 3DS GAME" claims look absolutely ridiculous. Need some PSNs from you guys. I play a mean Mileena.
e: I wish there was a way to disable the analog stick. I hit it once while I was doing a combo and it owned me :( |

Just added the destructoid review, they gave it 9 aswell.
Personally I can say that the game is pretty damn great. It's a shame about some of the graphics issues, but it really does not look that bad to me on the Vita itself. Just proves to me that Sony really needs to come up with a way to do screens, and capture video better fot the Vita. Easily worth the double dipp, if you enjoyed it the first time. |
