Saw God Bless America last night with a Q & A with Bobcat afterwards in Syracuse. Pretty cool since he's from here and he filmed several scenes here too. He is a really nice guy in person. Was a great time and I really liked the movie, but I still like World's Greatest Dad more.

Some of the points were spot the fuck on though. Felt great vicariously living through the main character.

Moonrise Kingdom, The Avengers, and Indie Game: The Movie for me. I hope Moonrise and Indie Game actually get shown in a theater around here.

It's about Aliens fighting the US Navy who has battleships, what else would you expect and/or need?

I see what you did there. Came back from it a few hours ago, it was ok. A good action movie, but not much more than that. If it weren't for the last setpiece, it would have been forgettable.

Saw Sound of My Voice this morning. Really think I despised the ending but thought the premise would make for an interesting movie. Dialogue delivered by Brit Marling especially within the primary setting the film takes place is so eyerollingly bad, but maybe I just need to mull it over a bit. I think maybe the intent of the movie is something that I just didn't really think about and just need to give it time.

Just got back from seeing Indie Game, my uni screened it. As someone who has long followed those games, it was really nice to get the human aspect behind them in a way internet conversation can't provide (and Phil Fish was way cooler than some of the controversy around him had me imagining). More impressively imo though, my friend who doesn't play games also really liked it, and moreso was intrigued by the games. Just a fantastic set of stories and thoughtful individuals, put together in a very competent way. My only complaint would be the way the film tended to glorify the "BLEW ME AWAY -Ign" type quotes games journalism spews out, but that's a minor note.

Nice! So much better than a certain superhero movie, right?

Avengers probably, should I see it in 2D or 3D? I seem to recall that the 3D was added post, o I guess 2D.

Then Cabin in the Woods premieres on the 16th here, so debating whether to see that in the cinema or wait for blu. I'm leaning towards cinema as I need to practice my tolerance for jump scares (not that I know if there are any) for Prometheus!

I don't really know, however 3d is all that's available here and I noticed that it didn't seem like a 3D movie.

I'd say that means it's added post. 3D added nothing to this otherwise amazing movie.

It's shown in 2D here, so I'll try to watch it in that.

It's not bad, but I think Taken/The Man from Nowhere are the better "Revenge/Kidnapping" films. But I'm glad that it's yet another great foreign movie. Hollywood is taking some punches.

Yes, Dante Harper (All You Need Is Kill, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) and Andrea Berloff (World Trade Center) are writing it for WB.
