Pole dancing: an art form?
#1
I don't know, this looks really impressive to me both from an athletic and creative perspective.
Oh, and...

I thought I'd be perving watching that, but I wasn't (mostly). I was just admiring her sheer talent and grace. Perfectly suited the track. Girl is insanely good at pole dancing, and yes, watching it like that, it certainly could be argued an art form, as much as any other dance anyway.

I dare anyone to watch this video and tell me that very nearly everything that happens after the 1:20 mark isn't amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwcj4Hn3UG4
NSFW but no more so then any of the gifs so far. |

I will subscribe to this thread and hope it doesn't devolve into what might very well be coming.
I've been pole dancing for a few years and while I never had any negative preconceptions about it before that, I definitely didn't realise how athletic and strenuous it is. It's like weight lifting, gymastics and frickin' murder all rolled into one. You can usually spot a newbie poler by the way they look like they've been beaten by a door over and over again :) This is the video I was shown that got me interested in pole dancing. Her name is Felix Cane, she's now with Cirque du Soleil doing the Michael Jackson something something tour in Vegas. Anywayz...retreating to await reactions now. [This is my absolute favorite of Jenyne Butterfly's performances] |

Of course it's art, it's just inextricable from the sexuality which...which I'm not really complaining about.
How hot it all is aside, I wish I had that kind of upper body strength to be doing some of the moves being displayed. Actually, let's just throw in lower body strength too while we're at it. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwcj4...ailpage#t=107s That part and on just blew me away. The combination of music and a fucking human flag like it's no big deal (something you only see in those calisthenics video highlights, but she incorporates in a way that makes you forget how fucking difficult that is) is truly beautiful and mesmerizing. Wow. |

To be fair, Jenyne is kind of a freak in her field, being SO MUCH BETTER than most everyone else that attempts pole work.
