Games you enjoy from series/franchises you normally don't like
#1
Are there any games that you guys enjoy playing, that you normally wouldn't enjoy? A particular title from a series/genre that you normally don't like but you have a soft spot for?
Here's a couple titles I can think of games from series that could care less about, but I enjoyed these particular titles: Naruto: Rise of a Ninja - Xbox 360- I watched the Naruto show briefly and could not really get into it at all. It probably helps that I like some anime, but Naruto was a series that just dragged on like DBZ, and while I liked DBZ when I watched it, I just can't stand sitting through that much filler again. Which makes it odd that I actually had fun playing Naruto Rise of a Ninja on the xbox 360. It's not the best game out there, and I doubt many Naruto fans consider it one of the better in the games. I think because it was one of the first anime games on the this generation of consoles, and it didn't completely suck really helped. The open world, and sidequests gave me a lot of stuff to do at a time I was really looking for more things to play on my xbox 360. Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance - PS2/Xbox/GC- I really am not a D&D person at all, and when it comes to fantasy games, I'm really selective. I never played the PC Baldur's Gate, I don't even like Lord of the Rings to speak of. I can't even bring myself to play more of Dragon Age. I tend to stick more to Japanese fantasy than western fantasy. This game was still awesome though. I played it again recently, and was surprised to see how well it holds up. There are little things about the look of the game that make me really wish there was a downloadable HD version of this game. Call of Duty: Black Ops - Xbox 360/PS3/PC - I'm not a call of duty fan at all really. The MW series has gotten so out of hand with the crap you can do in the multiplayer. There just seems to be never ending explosions, and always some asshole sniping you...but if I had to play any game in the series, I would still go back to Black Ops. Treyarch really know how to make good maps in their multiplayer, but besides that, this was the first game in the series that kept me interested long enough to actually beat the campaign. It wasn't oscar worthy material or anything, but it was a lot more fun and well done than anything in the MW games I think. The MP is more balanced, and I still get a kick out of zombies. I really liked the george romero map they put out with the other celebrities too. It was dumb, but in a good way. That's all I can think of at the moment. What games you guys got?

Zelda: link to Past. Not a fan of any of the other games in that series.

Pretty much this. Loved 5 cause I it was a blast to play with my bro. Couldn't get into RE4. Co-op was the only reason I played RE5 at all.

Real time strategy games...Age of Empires 2
EDIT: Woops I did that wrong....ok Resident Evil 4 is the only game in the franchise that I liked. And it's in my top 5 favorite games of all time.

I feel the same way, Vice City is the height of the series and I don't know why they don't just make an HD version. I'd buy it.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World The Game: I don't care about the movie. I dislike Michael Cera. I don't give a shit about Scott Pilgrim and didn't appreciate the annoying attempts of my friends to shove that movie down my throat with "UR A GAMUR U R SUPPASED TO LIEK DIS". Then I played the game with said friends and woah, fucking loved it.
Halo Reach and ODST: Halo is meh to me. But really liked these two, maybe I just dislike Master Chief and I think that it's just a good, but generic FPS, I really enjoyed those. Splinter Cell Conviction: Never really liked the older Splinter Cells, felt clunky and weird compared to the amount of hours I have spent at MGS, but even if this was "dumbed down for casuals" (oh boy, I fit that description) it was a fun ride while it lasted.

I like the Mario Galaxy games, and I just somehow don't care about any other Mario platformers. Is that weird?
Super. Metroid. You must.

Chaos Theory vs. the other Splinter Cells
It seemed to be the least trial and error of the entire lot (until that point. I only played the 1st two games for a few hours before they pissed me off too much. it was also the last SC game I played), plus there were less instances where I got caught and did not realize why. Oh yeah, it was also pretty fucking awesome. That helped.

Metroid Prime 3. I didn't like MP1 and skipped MP2 but MP3 is special. I don't know why, but as long as I'm enjoying it...
Super Monkey Ball 2. I disliked the original, but got 2 as a gift and had a blast with it. I tried 3 but couldn't get into it and the Wii entries were bad. |

Xenosaga Episode II (and yes, I know most people on here dislike that one). It was the only game in the whole series I didn't outright hate/think was an abomination to the Xeno name.
It helped immensely that Ep. II had actual sidequests and optional stuff instead of the linear movie that was the original, and much less Shion. Such a terrible character. |
