Ill admit, I have not played the previous hitman games...but I am quite impressed with what has been shown of this so far...visually, its spot on, and the audio is used to very good effect...game seems packed with atmosphere.

I'm VERY cautious about this game, I just hope there will be SANDBOX missions where the target doesnt know you are coming for him, and you can take him out in multiple ways.

As I said in the stealth game thread every time a game allows you the option to do silent or guns blazing it ends up being a sub-par or just ok stealth game (yes including the game my avatar is).

Not to mention it has that dumb see through walls and mark and execute feature. This game got Convictioned.

Yeah you could but you'd die more often than not. The shooting was purposely kept sub par to dissuade people from going guns blazing.

You could go guns blazing in every Hitman game so far. Edit: In fact on Normal difficulty, I rarely ever died.

Seeing through walls is no different than having a placeholder map on your screen telling you where every enemy is.

Io have not shown one thing that has given any indication that this game will be in the spirit of the previous Hitman games. From the start they have been up front about saying David Bateson wont be providing 47's voice, which has always translated to me as "this is not a real Hitman game". I would love to be wrong, but this just looks like a better version of SC: Conviction, and I really don't want that out of a Hitman game.

It's a lot different from having to interrupt your progress to look at a map of people and then memorize them when you go back to the game. This you just slap your magic power on and look. It's streamlined, I don't know why you're trying to argue against it.

Watch trailers from old Hitmans. They aren't exactly going for super-subtle. Just understand the simple fact that stealthy gameplay does not make for good trailers.

All of those are optional. It's YOUR choice if you decide to use them. This trailer still showcased you can take more stealthy, "hiding in plain sight" approaches, if you so decide. The only thing the trailer is bad at showcasing is the possible complexity (or lack of) of the levels. As far as comparing this to earlier Hitman games goes, it doesn't matter even if the game mechanics themselves were 100% like in its predecessors if the levels are simpler and don't allow for as much improvising. To me the mechanics look as sound as they've ever been (perhaps even better), now they just need to offer us compelling playgrounds to use those mechanics in.

I liked the section where he was dressed like a cop and he was covering his face with his hand. Looked cool and it also showed how much the visuals have improved generally.

I just can't see how that makes it so dumbed down. Stopping for a couple seconds to look at the map didn't all of a sudden make the game more deep or make me really think that much at all.

I would go along in the mission in previous games and assess each situation as I got to it. I never looked at the map and started memorizing everyone's movements. I would only look at the direction they're facing and where they're going as I got close to them.

You'd think so, but my friend is one of those mass-murderer Hitman players and he manages just fine. It's actually pretty funny to see him successfully complete missions that way.
Also, I highly doubt "the shooting was purposely kept sub par" for those reasons. They give you an arsenal of automatic weapons to choose from before every mission, and I'm supposed to be dissuaded from using them just because it has a little recoil? Most people would manage if they were so inclined, like my aforementioned friend.

Blood Money also was streamlined compared to the previous titles. Streamlining doesn't mean bad. Besides, the Instinct is also used for masking yourself in a disguise and isn't unlimited like the map was.

Regarding this new trailer, loved to see snippets of how to do it the Silent Assassin way, but IO really, really, should do a core audience trailer. They've done enough of these expanded audience trailers.

At first I was very opposed to the seeing through walls, but now I think it could actually be more of a challenge.

In previous hitman games, you could sit and memorize the entire floor choreography. You are forced to build a 3D spatial relationship now rather than having an overview. I think the burning red trail may not be the best thing, but seeing through walls didn't make batman a shitty game.

Looks decent enough, hopefully the level design is amazing and the AI is good and the instinct is disabled on Hard etc.

Some of these kills were a bit messy for a professional, I'm hoping there's a good portion of social stealth and non-flashy methods like poisoning or preparing a professional snipe and that kind of stuff in there as well, these were always my favourite bits in the previous games.

Also not a huge fan of the design changes bringing im a bit closer to the Timothy Olyphant character (imo).


That said, the graphics look pretty good.

What? No they havent. They kept us in the dark while fans contacted David himself when a new voice talent was announced. He was right on track before the announcement to reprise his role as 47 but IO just basically told him he had the job then he just waited. Then they announced this new VA and he had some emails going back and forth saying how he didnt know anything about this he was waiting for a sign when to come in. IO wasnt answering any of his calls.

yeah, I have a friend who runs through hitman games just killing everybody as well. So I'm not quite understanding.
