I agree that some of our conversations would have not been acceptable if there was a 14y/o kid (depends on the kind of kid). I dont oppose myself the idea of the minor being in mumble, as long as his father doesnt mind him hearing the f- word constantly, and/or sexual innuendo jokes. But yeah, whoever his father is. This is not the kind of game your son should play... honestly. Not because of the killing and all that stuff... just because there's plenty of more suitable options to stir his imagination. He doesn't need to get into this rotten world of revenge over a taken vehicle.

Hey guys, in a wee bit of a pickle here. I'm stuck in the southernmost barracks of the airstrip with a broken leg, and I can't escape from the bathroom :( Can I please ask a massive favour?
If anyone can spare it, could someone either run some morphine over to me? I'll give you my remington w/ flashlight in return. Or you could just kill me and take all my crap. Don't really want to be stuck in a toilet until I starve to death. Also, could someone PM me the gaf server. The one in the op is not current, I don't think. Cheers. |

when he was playing. Many felt an under-age/minor shouldn't have been on the GAF mumble with adults and I agree. |

conversations/profane language is NEVER a good mix and could even possibly open up a can of worms IMO. That's an example though and this wasn't how the situation went down FYI. I guess that's my parent side talking. :)

That was my parent side talking too. Meant to be something implying that michael should not join the mumble. And probably not even the game. A game like this when I was 14 y/o... I would not understand the whole scope of the game, and I would find the attitude of players so bad that i'd probably be an asshole too in the future in online games. |

I really hate loud weapons. Next time I will look for a crossbow and do everything with that.
I have been killed by zombies countless of times because I was forced to fire a Makarov or winchester in a town. They should make the hatchet into a secondary weapon. At least then I would have the choice of stealth killing zombies instead of opening fire and getting my ass swarmed. |

Man, so many bloodthirsty people posting in here, killing new players on sight! I think I am glad that I'm not playing on the GAF server.
Met quite a few friendly people in that same random server, ran into another helpful friendly guy and the guy I mentioned earlier also came back with a morphine for me.

ok, hands up - I'm Michaels (bad) dad!
FTR he is nearly 15 and usually plays DayZ with his mates, I don't see a massive problem with this, personally he could be out taking drugs, hanging around on streets or mugging people so I see this as a lesser evil...my son is a good kid with a good heart. A few nights ago he was helping me play (as I've only played a couple of times) when I bumped into another gafer who needed a blood transfusion. After this we were just chillin on a hill waiting for a bus and my son asked if he could join in and the guys were fine with that. Eventually that evening (while still waiting for the bus) I had to log off however it seemed like Michael was having fun with the guys and was being taken to a camp to be kitted out...they seemed fine and (in fact) seemed to be enjoying the game with Michael with no problems and he eventually got fully kitted out. So then the problems start. I had no intentions that this carry on beyond that - as far as I'm concerned he's got some cool kit and 'hung out with the big boys' for a night and should return to his 'pack'. I'm (obviously) upset that (whoever did it) felt the need to bully him over the stolen bus, he asked who was driving the bus but as no-one answered he couldn't be sure - he wanted replies of "not any of us - kill whoever it is!" - but there you go, if it makes you feel better he shouldn't be playing with big boys (which is what I told him). He then goes back for more - it seems all is fine and everyone is getting along and then after helping set up the camp everyone turned on him and killed him - then when he tried to return was sniped...I don't understand why he wasn't just asked to leave...but there you go. So anyway, he's now banned for a while - obviously I don't want him on chats where there will be adult talk - I guess I was wrong to think that people might tone it down a bit - obviously use of the f word is commonplace in todays society - certainly his mates are probably using worse - however he is not allowed to use that language (or rather I don't want to hear it). So he's back in his box and won't be 'upsetting' anyone else. |

Just had my first encounter with a player. Working my way up north and approaching Vybor for the supermarket after hitting all of them prior from kamenka. Anyway, I'm lying in the grass 50m off the road and alt tab out to check a map. I alt-tab back in decide to crouch up to get my bearings and did it at the worst time possible. I saw a truck driving along the road infront and hit the dirt but he stopped and the driver got out. After some firing I end up dead. I kinda wonder if there were more people as the shots sounded different and it was a truck that could hold a few people in the back, but oh well.
Edit: Taking another look at the map, it seems like the dude in the truck was probably heading to the airfield. I probably shouldn't have pushed that far north unitil I had some better gear.

Myself I wished he would leave on his own before socially disabled people have to take actions to enforce it, but such is the life on the inter-webs I guess... I quit the mumble group a couple of days ago and don't intend to go back partly due to reasons and personalities similar to what I described above. I do miss the half-a-dozen or so good guys, but some of them don't play much (or at all) anymore anyways so it's not like I'm losing much. It's also a good time to take a break from this game since I think after 900+ hours I've done enough "testing" to last for a while :-)

Had probably the best day yesterday. Found 3 downed choppers surrounding the NW airfield, found an AS50, NVG, GPS, British Assault rifle (cant remember the name) but it has thermal sights, a guile suit and ammo for both guns.
Im never going towards civilization again :P |

It seems from reading the posts here that this situation could have been handled a lot better by some of the supposed mature players, but reading a number of posts on here it seems they acted like bigger kids than Michael. I have Arma 2 (bought it on the Steam sale) and have tinkered around enough to know how to get DayZ patched and running, I have just finished an assignment and wanted to jump on the Gaf server and mumble (so I don't get killed for nothing) ........ Seems a click has already formed, think I should skip it. |

In fact, some of us might say that your chances of dying go up after you join any of the missions we used to do on mumble. Just the other day one of the new players tried to administer a blood transfusion and shot the dude instead. A minute later I dispose of a hacked grenade someone had found and I end up killing me and a fellow gaffer. When a gaffer was masturbating on mumble, no one said who he was either. Now I get to be the asshole and hold information :-D

Anyone on the GAF server or specifically our new base? About to log in but want to make sure I'm known to be there or if anyone is there, they're with us or not because I'll shoot on site otherwise.
I ask here because no one is on mumble :\ edit: Camp is somewhat fine. Most tents are pretty empty (not surprising), two are however flattened, and there are LOTS of hidden dead bodies there. I'm guessing from the sniper yesterday - the bodies.

That was me. If it's any consolation, I immediately got some bandages and then bandaged AND transfused him. The moral of this story? Tell someone you're about to transfuse/bandage/morphine them, so they don't walk away and then you click after the medic options have disappeared and instead shoot them. |

I miss you too, Tiffany! I'll be back on Steam one of these days, I'm just having a little PC / Steam problems that I need to sort out.

All I can do is hope that Dayz goes stand alone in the not so distant future and bugs and cheating are handled better. As long as its a mod these will continue to be an issue.. atleast in my opinion. Still though.. even with the current jankyness its still fun. |

Just found a helo crash site with two FN-FALs, one of which is packing a NV scope. Holla! That gels nicely with the silenced PP-19 I have... I love helping people out, but it's dangerous when everyone would rather shoot on sight. I'm also glad that the side channel has been removed. Feels so... desolate out there.

ROFL! I entered the supermarket at polana via the back and 2 guys where sitting in the corner, one in standard outfit and the other in ghillie suit, I was thirsty and my food was flashing, so I HAD to enter the store. I also knew that if I would simply enter they would gun me down. so I took my winchester and took shot at the guy with standard outfit, shot him in the head, instantly dead. The dude in the Ghillie suit I shot him in the chest. I saw him lying on the ground and suddenly he disappeared. I ran to a corner (I blasted an ak I found of the other guy and attracted a massive stream of infected, I took aim and continues pumpung lead into the steady stream, and plop! there was ghillie suit man who reappeared right where I was firing and I killed him) I took a look what he had:
Coyote backpack M4A1 CCO SD 6 STANAG mags, 3 STANAG SD mags matches, map, gps, compas, watch, toolbox, hunting knife and binoculars bloodbag, morphine, epi-pen and a bunch of soda's. There was also a L85A2 AWS, but since I didnt had the STANAG rounds at that time it was useless to me to fend of the zombies. only afterwards when I ran with the m4A1 up the hill that I thought to go back to pick it up. but daylight was already there and I was afraid that there where other guys around.
