Farms are a great example of this. |

I've lived on a farm and spent most of my life camping and living in areas of the midwestern US without any real significant sources of urban light pollution. You can see fairly well if you don't ruin your night vision with artificial lighting (flashlights, etc). You can't exactly run carefree through a dense forest but you can make your way through at a steady pace without too much worry.

I think despite the fact that it is actually pretty hard to see at night, I think concessions need to be made for the sake of gameplay. If the full moon level of brightness was forced or even lowered a bit, it would make night gameplay more compelling. Maybe it's just me but I don't find straining to see 2 feet in front of me very fun.
There are just far too many risks associated with traveling at night. I mean if they are striving for realism (despite zombies) then I'll just do what anyone else traveling in the woods does at night... Wait for the sun to come up |

Ugh. Got a broken leg in the middle of nowhere and no morphine. Managed to crawl into a town that doesn't even have a name on the map and find a house. Not sure if it's worth server hopping in the hopes that morphine will spawn. Have a lot of good equipment though.

The full darkness of night in this game is one of the best parts. Get some chem lights and move out. If you suspect someone is stalking you, or hear shots, drop down and extinguish the chem light.
Going on long treks in the dead of night with just a map and compass (no gps dot) is so rewarding. Finding landmarks, using roads, etc. If it was always a well lit full moon night it would ruin it. A cloudy night in deep woods is 100% black, not even your hand in front of your face. And you know what, NVG goggles hardly do shit either in full darkness. They need light to amplify. I did countless night maneuvers in real life during my time in a scout platoon in the Army National Guard. In the middle of Ft. Drum with heavy cloud cover, you aren't seeing a fucking thing. You have to use IR chem lights and other means. There is nothing profound about night having this balance of pros and cons and Dayz has these and I love it for it. |

![]() Crumbs, Gen X and I have a huge fight for our lives. Thank fuck for those tents! Only Crumbs and I made it out alive... This is after I had held Gen X's gear for 24 hours and had just given it back to him, too :( Your resident bandit is getting soft. |

Mickey, I have it maxed, if your monitor has dark blacks it really won't make a huge difference. Though one of our crew is usually on and they'll usually help me get around until the moon comes out. Especially if your around you like to flare bait anybody.

Try calibrating your monitor's brightness and contrast through it's control panel. |

Next round though when you and Crumbs were up in Vyshnoye I started heading up then met with Mickey at Mogilevka. This is where it got interesting. I had exited the stable and was over to Mickeys left when a bandit appeared out of my line of sight but in Mickeys. Mickey got assassinated and the stoooooopid Bandit didn't check his Six. All I had was the default pistol, took the Bandit down and took his shotgun, matches, map, compass, binoculars, Mickeys Alice Pack, everything I could. Mickey worked his way back up to Mogilevka and we worked our way slowly through the town, swapping supplies and crawling past Zeds till we were out of town. Up to a Castle a few clicks away, Mickeys PC crashed but thankfully he respawned a few mins away. Eventually got up to Stary Sober, stood our ground in the Barn just a hundred meters from the Army Tents. While we were scoping the area (I think we had shot some Zeds by this time) I noticed someone peek out from the nearby stables. They hadn't seen me, only Mickey. As he strafed out to get a good shot at Mick I fired 3 quick successive shots from the shotgun. Down he went. We raided the Army Tents, got some good shit and then we moved away and logged off for the time being. After 45+hrs of playing I am now a Bandit for the first time from that last kill. That last round has been one of my more successful rounds. |

Every game has an exploit somewhere. It is whether or not you choose to do it. Getting gear isn't the end all be all in this game. You get the gear so you can go on adventures! Also, dear stands have zeds at them now so it isn't just walk in walk out. Moreover, get all the hot shit gear you want, you are still one mouse click away from losing it and passing on all that work to someone else. That is what I love, no one is safe.

I installed this at my brother because he isn't really into installing mods. I booted the game to see if it worked properly. I joined a server and spawned on the beach. Next to me spawns another survivor. He looks at me and starts shooting, no questions asked. So I lay down and hide behind a rock. I'm in 3rd person view and he can't see me, because I see him looking for me. At some point he reloads, I stand up and shoot him. 'Player1 has been killed'. I think I teached that noob a lesson.
PS: Good to see ArmA 2 sales are still going strong. |

Disclaimer: alpha blah blah blah
But just wanted to vent, keep stocking up on gear and disconnecting from the server like the second I set out to do anything fun. Wah. And this last time the game randomly killed me in a field with no one around, no gun shot from the distance, nothing.

I'm pimping this amazon sale with my online friends(about 9 guys), but they can't download it from Amazon(they live outside the states). They have a question, if they download ArmA 2 and OA from some other place and they buy the amazon offer, will they be able to use the serials from amazon? Also, do they get 2 serials from amazon(one for Arma 2 and the other for OA) if they buy that offer or it's just one serial for "Combined Operations" and they have to get that instead?
Thanks in advance!
