The problem with Marty isn't Marty, it's perception. He's fallen a good deal from his pinnacle, but at his peak, he was god tier, and his peak lasted for what seemed like 15 years.

Going from GOAT-level to pretty good is a huge drop, sure, but he's still pretty good. Let's not act like he's a bad goaltender now. He's also certainly not a great one. He's capable of vintage dominant games, but the number of mistakes or poor plays has risen to downgrade him a good deal.

His mistakes jump out based on what people remember of Marty at his absolute best.
