The Elder Scrolls wikia has had this information for a little while.
It states that Morrowind sold 4 million copies by mid 2005. However, there is no citation in the article. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls |

Pretty sure it was at least half off during the winter sale, only because almost everything on the store goes on sale during those events. Still $10 for a game that old is kind of a lot when you see a bunch of newer games going for $5 during the sale.

I played it a bit a few months back on the 360 and it ran better than I thought it would, but I wouldn't really describe the performance as great. Don't remember how well it ran on the original Xbox TBH.
I would imagine most pcs running it far better. |

This is why I have a copy of Oblivion on Steam (Sale Price!) that I may eventually get around to, even though I already had an older 360 copy. It also came with DLC content - Shivering Isles, etc., that I didn't ever have for 360. Still never bought a copy of Morrowind. Maybe some day. |

I just wish there was xbox controller support. Is there a mod to do it? I tried to do it via xpadder but it didn't pan out too well.

If all the mods were pre-loaded, then we would reconsider at 9.99, however... An-Det |

I wish Bethesda would add the xbox control+menu system to the PC version, and offer it as a download on PSN/XBL (and why not Vita while we're at it).

I don't think I could play this one on XBox. I'd need a mod to remove stamina drain while moving.
On XBox Morrowind demanded you hold the analog stick only partially in a direction not to suck up all your stamina. If crawling around a big open world is for you, the XBox version provides all the painfully slow progress you will need. |

Keep trying to play the Xbox version (on my 360) but I can't get past some things. I can definitely appreciate it for what it is though; not something as I want to play, but rather something I can understand as a great game. I bet it was mind-blowing at the time. If I ever get a gaming PC, I want to try out that mod that reskins everything in Morrowind with Skyrim junk, and fixes some combat issues.
I'm willing to be convinced to give Morrowind on the 360 another shot if anyone cares enough. I always get like 10 hours in and then something happens and I don't play it again until like a year later, when I start a whole new game. (Happening since like 09 I think?) |

It's one of those game where you miss attacks based on stats. At the start of the game only one out of 30 attacks can connect with the enemy, if you run into an unlucky streak. A higher skill will increase your accuracy, and the only way to increase your combat skills is to connect with your attacks. So get clicking. Beyond that? It's an amazing game, even to this day. The entire world feels a bit odd and unlike anything else. |

Even if you don't mod it, it's a much better choice. Plus any PC can run Morrowind these days. Still worth playing if somehow Xbox is your only choice, though. Just know that it might be a little daunting at first, and you'll curse your low athletic stat and those goddamn cliff racers until you level up a bit.

It's slow and the combat sucks, but the world and atmosphere are still the best in the TES series IMO. Be sure to install some graphics mods, it's a generation of difference and should help you ease back in.

That's how my short adventures felt. Everything felt so...alien and isolated, but in a really good way. It felt like you were in this hostile world; like you needed to learn the ropes, and learn them fast to survive. That's how most RPG's feel early on I guess, but Morrowind seemed to do it in a great way. I felt kind of special when I managed to figure out quests on my own, without any UI assistance. Little stuff like that was great, but I just wished that some things like the losing stamina unless you walk, the clunky combat, and the lack of VO were "fixed," so to speak. I wish that they would just do a very lite HD upgrade of Morrowind. Basically use Skyrim's graphics, give it Skyrim's combat, but leave everything else alone. That'd be amazing I think.

A wish of mine for next gen is for user created content to be embraced to the level of things like Trials Evo or Forza where it is a core part even on consoles...mods are obviously fun for some but the second you are messing around with core mechanics it is not really official, I want sort of user created dungeons that are voted upon and integrated into the game..I can never motivate myself to play with mods, even hating cliff racers with a passion I played through morrowind vanilla and loved it as is

I understand that people always say Morrowind is the best, but I always want to know why they think that. What makes it superior?
