Not a problem! Looking quickly at the Smart Viera website, it doesn't actually speak of displaying channel guides or program info on smart phones/tablets. If Nintendo can work it out w/ the cable providers, those features would be something extra in addition to the things which Wii U and this Smart Viera tech seemingly have in common.

No, I'm talking about systems that are "sort of" considered portables by some but that you'd have to strap onto your head somehow if you wanted to use it in an actual portable manner. Not talking about anything contemporary. :) Virtual Boy

Oh, okay. I'm not sure who'd consider it a portable--it was certainly never marketed as such, unless you're counting the awkward use of "Boy" in the name. It's like a portable in that it uses an integrated display rather than an external one, but the fact that the controller is separate from the main unit completely disqualifies it from that category.

The PS3 in particular was having major problems until they dropped the price to 400 dollars. There were even several months when the GBA outsold the PS3 which was just plain ridiculous :Oo |

WiiU will also be out earlier. WiiU with a TV that has kinect like attributes can be seen as complimentary to each other. But buying Kinect2 when a Kinect like TV seems superfluous. |

They clearly see Kinect as an integral piece of their ownership of the living room, but there is going to be HUGE pressure from competitors when it comes to that sort of tech. If TV's are coming built in with voice recognition and camera control, its like you said, what's the appeal of Kinect2? Just games? How long can Kinect stay relevant before the next big thing in gaming is released? |

Kinect's popularity continues to baffle me. It's like the Wii in the sense that it has tons of widespread appeal and that a majority of the people who have it use it less than 10 times, but at least the Wii had good games coming out for it on a regular basis. The Kinect hasn't had one BIG game for it since it launched with Dance Central.

I still like w.u.c., pronounced "wuck". If we do get support for two controllers we can refer to the set as the wuc-wucs. |

Speaking about commercial moves Nintendo should do for Wii U:
from today's Media-Create thread: 17./29. [WII] Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo - 4/10/2008) - 6,783 / 3,561,199 (+93%) Instead of a 2d Mario platformer, that will be out for 3DS in August, I think that they should plan a brand new Mario Kart for Wii U (targeting a wide range of demographic with online, upad gyroscope and so on) at launch. |

On a similar note, I've found myself wanting a Wii U more and more for the simple ability to play a game around family members without using the TV. It really is a factor for people who live in a household larger than 2 people. |

browsing the netflix/hulu queue on the drc while watching a movie/show will be so convenient.

Reading that Iwata quote makes me think about cloud gaming and watching TV shows through the Upad. Competes with 3DS as many have pointed out before but Nintendo could do more here than streaming games and such to the pad at home. They are in a pretty good position here honestly.

Worse, last time I asked this question aloud, somebody claimed it was Nintendo who coined the abbreviation in the first place. I don't know what to say to that... No, that's a tesseract, not a tessellator. |

Mario Kart Wii: April 27, 2008 WHAT WERE THEY SMOKING I actually never ended up buying Mario Kart Wii (I must be the only person on Earth) because I was playing Brawl non stop for 2 years straight. |

Nothing wrong with having a hobby buddy. E3 week is my favourite week of the year, my live in girlfriend of 4 years understands when I am awake on the wee hours (uk resident) watching conferences about videogames. Can't fookin wait! |

Mario Kart is an ideal 2nd holiday title. Its a strong brand, it hits just when the console is doing well and gives it that extra boost. And honestly, if they have Sonic All Star Racing at launch, they should help Sega to push that. Also, I want them to get it right since they tend to only do one per console. |
