I've never been bothered by commercials or anything, so I don't really get the big deal. And I'd rather have ads than pay for some of this stuff, so I don't really mind. I imagine if people keep getting around the ads, they'll stop being effective money makers and then the services will suffer, offering less content or requiring a subscription fee or something.

Why do videos do ads that way?

Like on gaf, the ads are non-intrusive and you can just ignore them and get on to reading gaf. But with YouTube ads you are forced to sit through the ad if you want to watch the video.
