Avengers blew me away, great to see it is doing better than expected.
I presume this will be the next $1 billion dollar movie, I don't think anyone will get past Avatar though. |

Oh my.
Now I'm really curious to see how TDKR will do. EDIT: Hopefully he can turn this into something positive for Firefly. |

I maintain that TDKR will destroy the box office, WB will go overboard on the advertising, it already has tons of hype, etc... I don't see it "losing".
Either way, crazy sales. Whedon now owns people in hollywood. |

TDKR will need a lot of screenings to reach that total due to a longer run time.

I was given a chance to revise my summer predictions after predicting a $110 million opening. I didn't because I wanted to keep my dignity than revise my guesses willy-nilly.
I look like an idiot now. |

Holy shit at the Avengers, I knew it would do good but when I heard Saturday morning they were expecting $200m I said goddamn!
And the Hunger Games still holding on, could get to $400m now before it bows completely |

I was way off on my prediction for sure. I didn't feel the buzz on this one until Friday. Then everyone I knew all of a sudden decide to see it that day. |

TDK did what it did without having almost all the theaters charging a premium for 3D, so the $40 million gap isn't so strange. Also it came out 4 years ago, inflation and whatnot.

TDKR still has a shot at topping this. Many were predicting a $200 million OW for awhile. It is also the #1 most anticipated film for males this year topping The Avengers. #3 for females.

Wow. Explosive summer BO gonna be explosive.
The Avengers is well on its way for 500+ million domestic total, for sure. It is going to be super interesting what WB do now with Batman's marketing because they were playing it idle - but then this just happened. |
