LTTP: Uncharted 3: The worst GOTY of 2012
#1
Been like a good half a year or so, so lttp should be fine. Funny enough that I bought this day 1 for my bro but I've never bothered with it until today due to all the crying about how the game is garbage or whatever.
Got to chapter 5 or so. Enjoyed the young drake stuff. The yd chase sequence was terrible though. If I died more than 5 times on it... something is a bit off no? New brit guy seems ok for now, and the underground stuff is fine... but man uncharted stuff were always the worst in the dark areas imo. Sully "Did you forget how to shoot?" Yes I forgot how wacky guns are in this series. I really hope that the new ND game has better gun feel and weight =/ Also... is it just me or is the melee thingy in this game kinda terrible? It tries to do the Assbro and batman thing... but it kinda doesn't work due to jank. Anyhow, soundtrack is still great. Will play more tomorrow.

All 3 Uncharted games are some of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. U3 included. |

Some people will say it gets better in the 2nd half, I thought it got MUCH worse. So I'm just sayin'.......lower your expectations if you're already disappointed with the combat.

Totally agree. I was mostly okay with things...until I got to the pirate ship/ship graveyard. Story is lame and half-baked, setpieces of the sake of them, barely any flow, lame villain etc etc. It was a backstep in every way from Uncharted 2.

Anyways, just jumped off multiplayer a bit ago. Still love the game. And was definitely my favorite game from last year. |

Starts getting much better from chapter 7, 12-14 is amazing, 16 should piss you off, and 20 to the end is fantastic.
It turned out the be the highlight of the game so I had no beef with it.

It's great but wasn't goty.
You're not far enough into it to have a complete opinion on the game. |

I thought it was a blast and thoroughly enjoyed the sometimes cheap multiplayer.
Some cons: Areas with waves and waves of enemies. Felt pretty short. Took me like 6 and a half hours. No tweaks, cheats for single player. Set pieces weren't as good as U2's. (I thought the shooting mechanics were fine though.) |

Yeah, I just started a playthrough a few days ago and I'm in the middle of that right now. Despite enjoying the game up until that point, I've sort of ground to a halt because of it.

Series peaked with the first game.
Uncharted 1 was a masterpiece with some flaws that could be overlooked being a new IP. When you see the same flaws in 3 games following, plus some new ones, there's an issue. I'm literally forcing my way through the second playthrough of 2 right now for the platinum. So painful. I played the first game 6 times. It's that good. |

Still without luck

Yeah, he sucks because the hyper-linear level design didn't do a good job of making it clear where the one and only place he was allowed to go was. Rather, it was a frequent problem throughout the entire game.

Yikes, people call Uncharted 3 "terrible" and a "stinker"? I agree it wasn't as good as U2 and is somewhat disappointing in that regard, but really? I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but yikes. Good games must be hard to come by if you think Uncharted 3 is that bad.

I still liked the game though. One of the few games that I actually liked last year. My biggest problem with it was the combat sequences seemed incredibly forced. I had a much better time exploring and platforming than I ever did shooting.

But uh...yeah, that's about it! Stealth sucks, the initial shooting controls I beat the game with sucked, waaaay too much walking around, puzzles sucked, one plot contrivance after another, and several sections are just flat-out boring. I've beaten it twice, feel no strong urge to ever play it again. Unlike U2, which I've beat at least half a dozen times |
