Gosling would actually not stand out if he was just another guy (not a movie star). He does not have the Leo or Clooney type of looks going for him. However he is in shape, dresses well, and pulls off his look with confidence.

Nathan Drake is wearing a shemagh or keffiyeh around his neck, not a scarf. A scarf is meant to keep you warm, where as a shemagh is meant to disperse and absorb direct sunlight. Scarves in light fabrics like linen in summer are still pretty popular though, to keep your neck protected from burning. If you wear it with purpose, instead of to imitate a video game character, it's not hard at all to pull off. It's more about what you wear alongside it. White linen shirt: great. Black t-shirt and baggy jeans: not as great. Also you could do the Ryan Gosling in Drive thing without looking like a tool if you just substituted the scorpion-embroidered baseball jacket with a modernized varsity jacket instead. The fit is the same and both have short, banded waistline and cuffs, like a bomber jacket. For pants you just need standard Levis 501s, or if you have money, vintage repros (for quality and longevity)

Well, what I saw wasn't a keffiyeh, but fabric-wise and colour-wise it looked similar. They had a few different colours and weights to it, I believe. But definite summer scarf. And no, I don't want to imitate a video game character, it just reminded me of what Drake wore. I just thought it looked neat, but I'd never have occasion to really wear it in Vancouver. Maybe if I drove the Nevada/California desert or something.

I know that feeling. I can't wear any casual clothes under that, it has to be a button up shirt and fancy pants (or dark blue jeans) and perhaps a tie. Anything else, I look like a putz.

I have very thin hair that just flops down at anything more than a half inch length and refuses to do anything I want it to do. Well, when I wear jeans that are my size they do not hide certain areas very well, and I don't really dig showing off, as one could say, when I'm going to class or to the store.

The other problem which goes hand in hand with the first problem is I have athletic thighs, being a person who runs/plays soccer, and most of my weight goes to my thighs first. So when I find a pair of jeans that can fit my thighs( 28 is my waist, but I have to wear 30-32 to get around my thighs). The jeans then seem to always "show" everything and not leave anything to the imagination.
