man, that was a cool demo. the story really has it's hooks in me. not sure if i'll grab this day one but it would be a no brainer for $40. controls were great. feels nice and solid. nice touches of humor. the setting is great too. the ruins of dubai are so cool looking. i really enjoyed this. i thought the beta was one of the worst pieces of steaming crap that i had ever played. they have really tuned this thing up. they really should have called that beta an alpha. i really hope people's beta impressions don't scare them off. this seems like a totally different game.
just checked amazon. they have a $10 credit attached to this game. i will use my $10 credit from max payne 3 to preorder this. close to getting it for $40. so, day one perch fishes!

Even if you had 1THz CPU and 640 GB of RAM you'd still have problems with PC games, dark10x.

just googled it and adams is played by chris "kid" reid (yes that "kid") and not ice-t. cool nonetheless.
edit: oh shit, i didn't realize the main character was nolan north. definitely does not sound like nathan drake. but then again i suck at recognizing voices as i have already proven. |

I was in the alpha and actually enjoyed it. The demo felt different but wasn't too bad, the story actually interests me more than the gameplay, seems like a game I would pick up when it drops in price. Co-op could have been cool with the campaign with the squad focus.

There is a small bug in this demo with the zip line. Apparently, i went off to explore the area instead of pushing directly ahead. When I decided to drop down the hole to get to the next area, the zip line would not work for me at all when the button prompt came up. I was forced to reload the checkpoint to get it to work properly. This was on the 360 demo

I thought the demo was solid. Ran fine, controls well, enemies aren't bullet sponges, and AI teammates aren't stupid and either are really tough or are invincible, so I didn't have to deal with reviving them. Ammo seems relatively scarce too, which is a nice change of pace.
Graphics were good to so-so. It looked good in parts, but other parts looked rough and unfinished. Maybe it's an early build? Also, I remember Arthur Gies talking about this, but the characters using ziplines with their hands = what? That must be painful as fuck. |

I went in expecting this game to be crap. It wasn't that bad actually. It's all standard fair though. I've played this before... The gunplay was fun, love the gore, headshots were enjoyable. I won't write this one off. It certainly isn't day one. But I can see it getting solid 7's all around.

That was a pretty sizable demo.
I love that you don't have to hold down a button to sprint, and if you do you stick automatically to cover. I still haven't vaulted over a cover to hit someone, gotta try that. You can get knocked over by your teammates when they're landing from the zip lines! XD I appreciated the inclusion of squad commands, a bit simple right now, but get you out of a tight spot later on with snipers and RPG guys. Responsive when you want to sneak by and order silenced headshots. I hope there are more flanking opportunities. Also, genuinely interested in where the story's gonna go. I heard it starts with a dudebro tone then later eases you into the more deplorable Heart of Darkness side. Saw hints of that here in the demo. ![]() Game's on my radar.

They were interested in it because at one time, fellow Gamespot co-worker Greg Kasavin was working on it in some capacity.

Just finished the demo. Surprisingly meaty. I actually really liked it. Gameplay's fun, if run-of-the-mill. The environments look pretty good, I really like the lighting. Atmosphere and mood is really interesting. Story's set up is really interesting and I like how it's presented. Voice acting's pretty good.
I'll grab this. Reviews will determine whether it's Day One or... down the line. YEAAAAAAAAAAAH! |

Fairly long demo. All of the stuff that were the trailer-esque summation segments of the story were way more interesting than what was in the demo. I'm interested in picking this up at some point just for the story. The atmosphere when walking through the buildings was pretty neat. The actual shooting was so-so but it was nice to have some control over your squad commands. Graphics weren't too hot on PS3, aside from some cool godray effects and light going through sand.

Nice finally a game with color that isnt mass effect, that sold me on the game day one (amazon $10 preorder credit deal most likely). environment looks really good, detailed and colorful. even though like most shooters for consoles you are funneled down tunnels, it at least looked good.
gameplay was not bad - cover didnt seem quite as snappy as I like (coming from ME3), but guns felt good and powerful and I liked the impact effects as you hit the enemy. shooting glass to drop sand sounded gimmicky but I found it very satisfying in practice and a nice change from the usual exploding barrel environment kills. beginning with helicopter shooting miniguns - ugh massive deja vu, only part of demo I didnt like Probably in the minority, but I am looking forward to this more than max payne 3. I would have been more interested in MP3 if they did co-op missions like ME3 rather than competitive multiplay (as someone who only likes single player and not competitive multiplayer). |

Game actually surprised me a bit. Plays well and feels more Gears than anything else which took me by surprise. Couple things were a big let down though.. gun noise which sounds really weak to me and the grenades going off look like small firecrackers.
Other than that fun little demo.. for anyone who is not able to download I grabbed 10 min of action from the demo. Spec Ops Demo Gameplay |

It was better than I expected, though I stopped playing because of on too many deaths and the load times are too long.
Controls were fairly smooth as was the framerate. Didn't like M4 at all, it has a bad shooting sound and felt like a spray gun. Uzi was much better. Actually, some of the sounds just weren't good or felt that some sounds were missing (in cut scenes). Game looks pretty, I mean Uncharted level of pretty. I was constantly in awe of godrays, and bloom. I like good looking deserts. |

This one of those head-scratcher demos - I am puzzled as to what they thought they'd accomplish by putting a demo out. I'm happy they did because I was curious to see what the actual gameplay is like, but I thought the strength and differentiating point of the game came from the HoD story and decision making bits. Doesn't sound like this 40-minute demo can really show that stuff off that well. I don't know though - haven't tried it yet.
Is anyone MORE interested in the game after playing the demo, or does it do the game a disservice (assuming the story and other stuff is legitimately compelling)? |

Dam i was part of that beta was kinda shocking how bad almost as bad as that Ghost recon: Future soldier multi beta. I still dont get it how a 60 fps game 2 years back now runs and looks the same running sub 30 fps. So i think the 2010~2011 60fps E3 footage was pc gameplay has to be.
