um, Peace Walker has ALOT of audio. You do the full install?

Like others said, just buy the HD collection on PS3 for Peace Walker alone. The 60+ hours of fantastical gameplay more than justifies the price.

In any case, if you knew it ran at that res why are you saying MGS3 on the Vita is the same? :P
I said it's the same res but in widescreen in the same way that 1920x1080 is the same res as 1440x1080 but in widescreen. :)

I'm pretty sure the install was just due to the slow UMD which wouldn't be an issue on Vita so they could pretty much just straight up dump that 1.8GB UMD's data on an 8GB card.

And Peace Walker is on its own disc, at that.

The audio is at a higher fidelity than it was on the PSP, so that would assuredly push it way past the UMD size limit.

I imagine the reason Peace Walker takes more space than the others is because most cut-scenes are FMV. They've been uprezzed to 720p on the PS360, undoubtedly with a much higher bitrate than they were on the PSP.

That definitely plays into it as well, but needless to say, a theoretical Peace Walker HD for Vita would not fit on the same card as MGS2 & 3. :P

Uhh, that means it's NOT the same resolution. 1440x1080 is less demanding than 1920x1080.

720x448 is, therefore, more demanding than 512x448 (the resolution of MGS3 on PS2).

You can't simply say "it's the same resolution...in widescreen" as that doesn't make sense.

Now, with something like the Wii with its anamorphic widescreen games, that makes more sense. The Wii renders ~640x480 regardless of content and the FOV, interface, and HUD are all squished when 16:9 is selected while the games rely on an external scaler to translate them to 16:9. The resolution Wii uses is still just 4:3 if you go by its 1:1 pixel nature (assuming square pixels).

Yep, me too. This will be my fifth copy of MGS2, and before it's over, I'll end up with eight.... nine if you want to throw the Document of MGS2 in there as well.

Once PSX support is added, the Vita should be able to play nearly every major Metal Gear game to date (aside from MGS4).

It'll still be missing Ghost Babel, Portable Ops, and the non-canon NES games, but it's a near complete experience on a handheld. I like it!

I skipped on the PS3 version, the gameplay tweaks they have made on the PSVita version make this a buy for me.
Is the US/Euro release confirmed for June?
Btw June will be a good month to have a Vita, now if they could get the Psone support in, I could replay the whole MGS trilogy on Vita.

Alright, so with an emulator or two the rest of the games could be compatible as well.

MGS4 is really the only game that would be missing, but I don't think we'll see that happen (nor do I think it's well suited to the Vita).

*sigh* I know it's technically not the same res as the PS2 version. My point is that 16:9 versions of a 4:3 ratio i.e 720x448 versus 512x448 or 1920x1080 versus 1440x1080 will have exactly the same quality since one version is literally like the other one but with two parts from either side cut off, i.e. same pixel density, same res etc. If you have a 1080p TV and a PC try playing a game at 1920x1080 and at 1440x1080, aside from aspect ratio differences, they will look exactly the same even though the former obviously has a much higher res. Playing the PS2 version of the game would literally be like playing the Vita version but with two black cardboard pieces on either side of the screen.

Still day one, but IMO it should be native res, with a bit of AA and locked framerate...

I'm not sure what they can add to the game that wasn't already present in the console versions. Maybe remove half of the vehicle battles to make it a better game?

That actually looks pretty good. The touch controls seem pretty useful and are decent additions. If I had a Vita I would probably buy this. Not even probably, I would. I love MGS3 and 2 that much. I assume though that 2 will have the same touch controls. Should have the back touch makes Raiden do cartwheels.

On my PSP/PSPgo, I have played through the original Metal Gear seven times, and put more than 160+ hours into Peace Walker... I even played Portable Ops twice... Why would you play these games on a portable? Because the ability to pick up the game anywhere anytime is really seductive! Trust me :)

Needless to say: Day One for me!

Yeah, it's also good to hear that it will also incorporate the "transfarring" feature. So all that time I put into the HD collection on PS3 won't be a waste.
