Gritty sandbox action game set in the F-Zero universe where you play as a grizzled Captain Falcon as if it were Batman Arkham City, hunting those bounties to the point where he's basically a full blown vigilante.
Oh and there might be some racing stuff in there somewhere, I can smell the success from here. |

As this news is probably fake it doesnt matter anyways, but if Retro is really doing Star Fox WiiU:
-Make a long on rails single player mode (with the range mode for some bosses like Star Wolf). No on foot shit what so ever, and one or two special stages with the sub and tank (an maybe the mecha of Star Fox 2). Make fun of this stages in the story (make Falco the "audience" here, the jokes practically are written by them selves.) -Make the single player story with coop option up to 4 online or splitscreen, you can unlock different vehicles and characters with different atributes as the story porgresses (like the only good thing in Command) this will make a longer singleplayer mode and the different ships could help diversify getting new high scores. You can play old missions with new characters you have unlocked, but the fist time you have to beat it with the characters the games gives you in that mission becuase of its story. -Make a fun and epic story like Kid Icarus Uprising, never try to give it a serious tone. Full of jokes, character quotes and and a simple story like andross being the main villian, with surprise (or not). -Make a multiplayer online mode with on range free for alls. The different atributes in ships will make it fun. Also make lots of players at the same time (maybe 20) with team based games also. -Make a puppet style graphics for the chracters, change some of them so they dont look too scary. -Make effect explosions just like in the old Star Wars movies (basically like putting fireworks inside a spaceship model). It will look great with the puppet style characters. -Music have to be orchestral versions of the SNES Star Fox and Star Fox 64 melodies, with lots of new tracks also. There you have, a long on rails game with diversity and beat high scores frenzy, an amazingly good online multiplayer, and an unique artstyle. If this doenst save the franchise, let it be dead until it passes 20 years more and you remake it. To the poster that says that Kid Icarus does it better, im sorry but the on rail missions of Star Fox and Star Fox 64 beat out the crap of the ones in KIU, at least in gameplay. Yeah, the are much more epic in KIU, but the attack pattern of the enemies and the score types make a million times more fun the Star Fox games. In the highest difficulties the Kid Icarus on rail stages are not fun at all, and I vastly prefer the on foot gameplay.

Am I the only one that would love a new StarFox to resemble the SNES version? Even if its only a level or 2. There is something very charming and strange about StarFox 1 that I can't put my finger on it. I just love the look to the game with odd geometrical shapes resembling enemy ships. Im in the minority but I like StarFox 1 better than than StarFox 64.

This has been covered in the Wii U speculation thread (and perhaps here but I didn't see at a glance). But basically the old Retro quote of "it's something everyone wants us to work on" was taken out of context, that "something" wasn't attached to any game.
I'd love to see a proper Star Fox on consoles again. Just picked up 64 on the 3DS and it's about perfect. Retro could make an amazing looking game and I don't think it would eat up all their resources to do so -- meaning they could also be working on something else... Two A level games instead of one massive AAA title. Part of my reasoning as to why I hope this is true is because a smaller-in-scale space shooter could be THE graphics showcase for Wii U. I also want to see F-zero and Wave Race. They wouldn't need two racing games, so I'd prefer F Zero on a console and Wave Race on 3DS (didn't Wave Race start on the Gameboy anyway?). But nothing on my conversation really DEMANDS Retro. Treasure could do a cool job on Star Fox. Retro might be good for F Zero since they did some work on MK7 but it's not a very in-demand franchise (though I love it!). |

No chance in hell Nintendo is wasting Retro on Star Fox. They need a game that sells. |

E3 being a few weeks away doesn't make every random rumor true.
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I'd welcome a Retro Star Fox, though. |

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a Wii U Star Fox, but that's not what Nintendo should be setting Retro to work on. Like it or like it not, Retro is Nintendo's big Western studio, and they'll be set to work on products which appeal to mainstream audiences in the West. Star Fox is very far from being one of those titles.
Honestly, I see them being put on a new IP for a new generation. |

I shall partake in your poll, good sir!
Do you believe? Yes. Are you really excited? Yes. Do you trust Retro to make a good Star Fox game after Metroid Prime and DKC R? Yes. Is Star Fox relevant? Yes. Has there been a good Star Fox game since Star Fox 64? Yes. Very much psyched indeed! |

Accept Him, your LORD David Bowie and He shall set you free. Go forth, my son and spread His androgynous teachings to all. For the LORD David Bowie loved the world so much, He graced His image upon all things.

New Star Fox? YES!
To Retro? NO!!!! Let them work on something awesomer. Don't waste their time on Star Fox. Treasure was born to revive this franchise, give it to them. |

A lot of people here would be disappointed if Retro was working on a Star Fox game. After Metroid and Donkey Kong, I don't mind what if Retro is truly working on a Star Fox title. We haven't had a good one since Star Fox 64, so I'm thrilled to see what they are able to do with the franchise.

Do I trust them to make a fantastic Star Fox game if thats what they're doing? Absolutely!
Do I actually want them making a Star Fox game? Not really. I want them making a giant adventure game or something. Something big. Star Fox is cool but its more something, I dunno, a smaller team could manage and still probably do quite well type thing. Like Platinum or whoever wanted to do it. Can't believe Treasure haven't been given a chance either, despite how close they are (or were?) with Nintendo.

SF64 was too easy and had too few levels. Ditch the submarine (I like the tank), add harder difficulty settings, and make some truly difficult levels. SF64 was a cake walk even when I was a kid. I loved it, but it was too easy.

Makes sense. Star Fox since 64 have been this weird bastard child that's the "genre/game experimentation" game, and no two games since then have stuck to just the core flying game, and often just explored the features of the system in odd ways.
I expect some sort of Star Fox Command like interface here again if its legit. |
