Celebrate Wolfenstein 3D's Birthday In Your Browser
#1
A fully playable browser version of Wolf3D! Hiding behind an age gate and a "North American" versus "International" question. Thanks id!
Go give it a try. EDIT: Also, there's a director's commentary with John Carmack on Youtube. And I'm Nick Breckon. EDIT2: Also, free iOS version. EDIT3: ALSO! Steam sale. Wolf Pack (includes Wolf 3D, Spear and Return for $3.75) and id super pack.

This is the sort of thing fans love to do.
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/470460 Nice when devs/pubs do it themselves. |

Won't load for me on Firefox or Chrome. :( (on Ubuntu/Linux)
Is it Flash, or HTML 5, or what? |

Hah, I'm really surprised it uses <div>s instead of Canvas - seems like it would be more easily portable from the original code with the latter. Weird!
No obvious reason why it shouldn't work for you. JavaScript disabled? |

![]() No secrets unfortunately, but I had some problems both with frame rate and opening doors (textures got all weird, I played in Firefox 11.0). By the way, does anyone know if you can enable the debug mode in this version? From 3D Realms' website:

Yeah, this. Did the exact same thing. First thought when I was playing - why did I think that was fun then?

I played Castle Wolfenstein in Dosbox recently and it was quite fun. Being chased by an SS trooper across screens and searching boxes frantically for a grenade was a nerve-wracking experience.

And now the Wolfenstein games are on sale on Steam. $3.75 for Return, Wolf 3D, and Spear.
And 50% off the id super pack if you're feeling that way.
