Eh. People are still making PSP games, so I wouldn't count it out yet.
Ugh. I don't want to buy a Japanese 3DS until a revision or something. It'd be even better if it isn't region-locked! :D

God Eater 2 and Fate/Extra CCC will be released this winter, in Japan the PSP still lives!
I highly doubt something like this is going to happen though... |

I know the resolution no problem for me though - i love playing on my DSi XL which has a way lower resolution but the bigger screen just makes it more comfortable for me. Going form DSiXL/Vita to 3DS is getting difficult for me.

They could make these quotes as interesting as FFIX's character quotes, but they won't. Sounds like standard Tales stuff to me. |

I prefer higher DPI, so the screen any bigger would just be a jaggy mess for me.

Random speculation: What if the X on the teaser site isn't a reference to the letter X (and xillia) but rather a reference to the roman numeral X (10, as in the 10th Tales Studio game: Tales of Graces). These quotes, while generic, would match up more with what I'd expect from a Team Destiny game. Plus its been long enough to be expecting a project from those guys now. Creating a direct sequel isn't unheard of for Team Destiny and it would answer why there isn't a trademark too. Even the environments could match up with the world of Graces.

Publishers generally know how much they're going to be able to ship out to retailers well before the game actually launches. Let's not forget that Xillia is probably exclusively on the PS3 mostly because of the great sales that the PS3 ports of ToV and ToG got.

Plus, looking at the hug success of portable gaming in Japan compared to the home market, I also think that not only the results on PS3 but (it could sound strange, I know) the ones on Wii and 360 should lead the effort of the main Tales games towards the home market (on PS3 primarly, of course, and who knows? Maybe into a multiplatform development for PS3-Wii U in the future 2013 for example). I still think that both Vita and 3DS could and will see Tales titles coming, but maybe more oriented into spin off in terms of developing teams and gameplay Due to the fact that the teased title is a main title, I really think about PS3. |

They've announced the schedule for how this is going to go down this weekend. All Tales Channel members (free registration on the site) will be get to access the live stream of the announcement. It will start on June 2nd (Saturday) at 18:25 Japan Standard Time. For those who miss the initial live stream, they will put up an archive video of the announcement at 22:00 JST on the same day. It will stay online until 21:00 JST on June 3rd (Sunday), the next day. |

While I'm not going to put it past them or anything, I think if there were a good level of interest in doing more mainline games after Hearts we probably would have gotten one or two by now, but instead the upper limit since then has been Narikiri Dungeon X and Innocence R. Maybe they're using the ports and remakes to lead up to one that'll show up later on, but at the moment the worry (?) over this seems kind of uncalled for.
Anyway, today's quote is "So, what is your wish?" The countdown ends before the event so I'm curious to see what they intend to do. I expect another one of these random quotes, but hopefully it's something a bit more interesting than that. |
