LTTP: DuckTales NES (A-Woo oo!)
#1
![]() I've always wanted to sit down and play through DuckTales on the NES, since I never had it as a kid, but I never got around to sitting down and powering through it. In my mind, I thought it was a lot like a classic Mega Man game, where you really need to sit down and dedicate time to figuring out boss weaknesses, secrets, powerups, etc. While it has a little Mega Man platforming, it's nothing like it, otherwise. Frankly, I was shocked at how incredibly easy the game was. Bosses were a joke - never once died on them. Also, I had kinda hoped that collecting money would have some sort of payout, instead of just being a glorified score. I was going through, trying to get every treasure, when really I could have beaten that game in, like, 20 minutes if I just ignored treasure. That being said, boy was it a fun game. The pogo mechanic never got old, and some of the level design was nice and creative. But, oh man, dat soundtrack. African Mines? The Moon? Too good, man. Those songs are just great. Plus, Scrooge McDuck is a total pimp. |

Was gonna make a similar thread today about a totally different game but I'll wait a couple days now haha
Ducktails was an awesome game. I haven't played it since I was a kid, but it's sitting there on the shelf, waiting for me to jump in. Maybe I will this weekend. I'm shocked to hear it's easy. |

That's part of what made it refreshing. It was a) a great license adaptation and b) accessible.
So many NES games of the era were some combination of brutally hard and mechanically broken, so being easy was frankly a plus when you could have that rare game that was actually completable and not full of hair-pulling design decisions. |

I had this movie in VHS, but the boxart was not as epic as this one.
Is the one that has a race against the irish duck and they get to the lamp both of them, so they need to race again to ducksburg? I thought at the time that they were episodes mixed to make a movie, because it came with another episode a monster in the sea IIRC, and I never really liked it because it was in latin american, and preferred Carlos Revilla castillian spanish Scrooge's voice (RIP good man :() or the original english voice actors. |

Ah, memories. Loved this game as a kid. I was all pumped about it since it was one of few games I could actually beat back then. :P
Yes, I do and I loved it. But Disney never wide released the damn thing on DVD! |
