To be honest though, I've also never understood the appeal of a bad music circlejerk. Yeah, it's unpleasant, but discussing this garbage just gives it more exposure than it deserves. |

And to think while I was in high school I was thinking that music couldn't get worse than what it was at the time. |

Think it's pretty shitty. a gvb comment nearly nails it: "suburban tweenage nihilism." current alternative music trends have spread far enough to reach the young upper middle and upper classes, who have the means to make music but can't see the line between irony and sincerity that others have/are walking so they just say "fuck it" and make garbage. luckily they won't be around for long.
i do feel bad for the people in here talking about "youths" and "swag" and how they can't get current music culture. it means they're only consuming what's shoveled at them instead of, you know, looking for good stuff. because if you did just barely deeper than a top 40 radio station you'll find wonderful things. but most would rather complain about society when noting how out of touch they are than blame themselves |

But I love playing this game, because I always win. Let's bet a dollar via PayPal. For every ONE new act you can find me and I say I like, I will give you a dollar. And by 'new', I mean a band/group/singer/artist composed of relatively young people and did not exist in any way within the last, lets say... 5 years. Heres what I've been listening to a lot of lately: 1) The Divine Comedy 2) Bjork 3) The Cardigans 4) Steve Wonder 5) DJ Okawari 6) Jamiroquai 7) Paul McCartney's Kisses on the Bottom album. Find me something new I like, get real paid. Edit: Heck, I'm not saying it can't be done. Just that there eventually emerges a pretty fundamental, generational disconnect as time goes by. Happens all the time.

Mystery Song from 2012 you might like, considering the Okawari stuff. |

By generational disconnect, I kind of meant like... the reason younger folks making music doesn't appeal to me is because they are more likely to be influenced by very different acts than I was in my musically formative years. Hence, they're basically taking something that didn't appeal to me in the first place and building on that... therefore increasing even further the odds of disliking it. At least that's my theory. |

If I wanted to listen to boring looking girls rapping, I'd listen to Street Hearts because they're actually half decent at it. This girl is terrible, in my opinion. Deadpan delivery and the lyrics are scatterbrained.
