I used to weigh almost 200 pounds when I was in middle school then lost tons of weight going into high school. Dropped down to 130ish at my lowest and I was 5'10". I would love it when people said I was too skinny as they would say it in a seemingly mean way but I could tell there was a jealous undertone. I always took it as a compliment.

You guys need to stop saying you can't put on weight, if you eat more consistently you will put on weight.
I am 6'4 and was 75kg (165lbs), and now I am 87kg (191lbs) and I wanting to get to at least 100kg (220lbs) as I am bulking up. I have done this through just having more on my plate, and protein shakes. I starting lifting weights and have put on some muscle. Its not hard, just eat at a calorie surplus and you will put on weight. |

I think it can be as offensive because it's usually coupled with "Why don't you try eating something!" when that person has absolutely no knowledge of your eating habits, and it just comes off as ignorant.
I've always been skinny and when I was younger I would eat like 4 meals a day, but my metabolism was just super high, so I never gained any weight. It sucked, especially because some folks in my family mentioned it every time I saw them. I'm still skinny now but no one really cares anymore to comment :lol And I used to be really self conscious about it, but being in a relationship where the other person really liked the way I looked helped a lot, so I'm much more confident about my slimness now. (I'm 5'7, 125) |

That is my absolute ideal weight. But I physically can't get there. I work with what I have.

I'm still slim but at least I'm fit/muscular instead of scrawny. |

Want to know if you're overweight? Input height and weight. Now we need to determine if the BMI applies to you. Are you overweight? Yes? Then BMI applies to you. According to the BMI, you are overweight. Thanks for using BMI! |

I fluctuate in weight quite a bit depending on diet, I watch my fat intake ( I gain weight rather easy). I'm not cut but not fat, I look good in tight shirts. Its hard work but I enjoy the benefits. Have you tried a mass gainer for gaining weight?

I have, but I like where I'm at now. 150lbs, all muscle really, and yet when I have my clothes on some people (especially overweight people like someone else mentioned) will go, "Dude, you need to eat more." You don't see me telling you to eat less. I'm not trying to feign offense here; I find it genuinely rude to comment on another person's weight, and it goes both ways.

I'm not sure about the entire world, but in America we have a significant issue with obesity. A large portion of our population are overweight due to several factors, but the large reason is irresponsibility when it come to diet and physical activities. Therefor, people that are "thin" are now becoming less normal. So a method of attack for larger people to feel better about themselves is making fun of thinner people as if they are the minority.
Just brush it off. I was hella skinny up until my 21st b-day when I made a dedicated effort to start working out. |

My frame is thin and feminine too. Small hands and feet (size 7 US shoe), though I still have broad shoulders But yeah I get shit all the time for being too skinny, specifically males. Girls just tend to be jealous haha |

No I'm not, breaking it down your body works in calories in and calories out.
Eat more than your body needs, a calorific surplus, and and you will gain weight. Eat exactly at what your body needs, and you will remain at the same weight. Eat less than what your body needs, a calorific deficit, and you will put on weight. I used to be skinny and I thought I couldn't put on weight. But then I just sat down and starting eating more. That is all there is to it. I am still pretty skinny so I am upping up how much I eat all the time. If you can actually provide evidence, not anecdotal, that says I am wrong I would love to hear it. But at the moment you are arguing against the laws of physics. |

6'2", 160 +/- 5 pounds seasonally.
![]() Pic is not me, just my general attitude toward my weight. I eat relatively well, but don't exercise much apart from having a long walking commute to/from classes. My ex-girlfriend complained about me being skinny whenever I had shirt off because she could kinda sorta see my ribs.

Hell, my thinness makes me look younger than I should. I'm 22, and a cashier asked me if I was in my final year of high school. God damn, it's annoying. |

For those who say it is hard to gain weight, I would like to see their diet and how many calories you are really consuming.
Throw in a gallon of milk, 4-8 oz of meat, and a protein shake in addition to your regular diet and I bet you would gain some mass. AT 6'1, 175 does sound skinny. The biggest concern is that after you hit your target weight, is there any muscle to show? How low you looking to go? |

Are you suggesting that sugar-loaded soda isn't a hefty contributor to obesity?
Drinking lots of Coke is obviously a terribly unhealthy way of putting on weight, but that doesn't make it ineffective. They probably mean that you should put on more muscle. |
