I have no faith in Rene Ritchie's "sources." Quad-core A6, micro dock connector, etc...

Google still doesn't have a competitive tablet ecosystem, Apple would corner the market before any true competitors even existed.
A micro dock connector will probably appear with this year's iPhone redesign... |

I'm confused how they are going to sell it that inexpensively. I do think a smaller ipad is coming, but it will be $299
They have no incentive to cut their margins so thin as to go to $200 - $250. |

No, a smaller ipad is coming. I have complete faith in that. It's how they expand the life of products. It's just about time for the ipod mini/nano of the ipad line....

Wow, I fucking hate Apple but I would buy a $200 iPad in a second.
$200 or no sale. I'm perfectly fine without one. Also, it better not come with a mandatory wireless contract or something. There's no way I would get one then. But to be honest, this doesn't even make sense. $200 when people are snatching them up left and right for the price it's currently at?

And it's not hard to predict the exact date of the announcement when
a) All Things D reported it would be held in the first week of March and b) Apple usually holds these things on Wednesdays |

a 7 inch ipad or andriod tablet might be okay , i'd get a smaller phone and bring the tablet with me more often.
However I'm waiting a on dual core amd jaguar cpu with a 7300gpu in a windows 8 tablet. I don't need a toy to watch videos on , i want a real laptop replacement . |

Amazon certainly helped a ton with the Fire and it's price point. Other tablet makers and other tablets like the Nook definitely took notice.
Amazon better bring it with the Fire sequel though because you'd be stupid to get a $200 Fire 2 or the Nook sequel if the iPad was 7" and around the same price point. |

The perfect device for people who don't care for eInk. I wouldn't necessarily want one -- I want to easily type on the thing and existing tablets at that size are a pain in the ass -- but for reading books/comics, if that's your primary use for a tablet, you might as well get this form factor.
I just don't see music production apps working out on this form factor, and that's my primary purpose for an iPad.

I'd buy. I love my 7 inch PlayBook ... It's a better form factor for reading ebooks, it's more portable for carrying around and much easier to use in bed. I still love my huge iPad 1 for couch surfing (i prefer it over my 7 inch PlayBook) but I would seriously consider a 7 inch iPad at a 250 price point.

I don't buy it. At that pricing, best case scenario is that it's an iPod Touch XL.
And even then, it'd still be violently out of place with Apple's premium prices. They'd risk making everything else they produce look like a grift in comparison.
