The Futon Critic is usually worth checking out. That and the usual trades like Variety, THR and of course Deadline.

Fox:
Ben and Kate: Looks pretty decent actually. Not necessarily my type of humor, but seemed amusing enough. The scene where the woman is talking about her mouth was funny. The Goodwin Games: Also looks decent. Wasn't that funny (though funnier than B&K) but it seemed like it had a lot of heart. The Following: Looks really good minus some hokey dialog. "You better plan on some re-writes!" Great cast. Get hype. The Mindy Project: Looked good. Funny, charismatic lead with smart dialog. Seems like a win. The Mob Doctor: Looked alright. Am I wrong in that this appears to be sort of 24 meets House? Fox's new shows (especially the comedies) seem to blow NBC's out of the water. Granted, Fox showed full trailers for all of their shows while NBC only showed brief clips, so it's hard to get a feel for them, but at this point I'd say Fox is in pretty good shape this fall.

I'm really digging the 'Millenium esque' vibe from The Following. Hopefully FOX, and broadcast TV, will embrace something this (potentially) dark.
The 'Mindy Project' looks interesting but the fact she's her character is a doctor really annoys me and I don't know why. Probably because the show will shamelessly crowbar in all the drama and sentiment that way. Urgh. The more I see of NBC's pilots (though they are trailers and not really a fair representation of the shows) the worse they get. Revolution looks like it could be really good but the trailers/clips for Infamous and Do No Harm make them look like cheap soaps... which they may very well be. |

Ben and Kate: If this was anime then the brother and the sister will hook up at the end.
The Following: As a fan of cops drama and detective stories, this might be good. The Goodwin Games: I like the premise and the trailer but how do they plan to make this last more than one season? The whole show kinda ends after beating the game so unless they are only answering like couple questions an episode, the show can't be dragged on The Mindy Project: Not feeling this show at all. Maybe it was the lead star or the weak writing but none of the jokes in the trailer made me smile. The Mob Doctor: Some of the details flew over my head but is she working for both side? Like kill people the mafia hates and kill mafia people as ordered by corrupted cops? |

I'm going to do the same thing with my brother, mother, and father tonight, but this is the root of NBC's problems. Look how much better cut these Fox trailers look!

My preliminary list so far:
YES: 1600 PENN, Go On, Animal Practice, The Goodwin Games, The Folllowing, The Mob Doctor Maybe: The new normal, Next Caller, Revolution, Do no harm, No: Save Me, Guys with Kids, Chicago Fire, Infamous, Ben and Kate, The Mindy Project, So far a lot of the descriptions and trailers call for early cancellation, especially the NBC shows. I hope I am wrong and I am eager to see Chandler but after Mr. Sunshine I doubt it. With The Voice as a lead it might work out. NBC Wednesday sadly looks already dead to me. Fox did better - Mindy Kaling + New Girl and Mob Doctor with Bones might work out pretty well. Ben and Kate in my eyes won't survive that long. |

Now that I can view all of the trailers:
- Ben & Kate: Super adorable. I get why they changed the title. Emotional, has some solid laughs in the trailer, and looks like it'll have a ton of heart. Plus, it has two amazing showrunners on it. Sold. - The Mob Doctor: Surprisingly great casting all around. Not sure about the subject matter and I'm not a huge fan of doctor procedurals. Still feels like it's missing something... but that was a much better trailer than I expected. - The Goodwin Games: Usually not a fan of high concept comedies (and the, oh look, it's our minority!), but How I Met Your Mother did it right. I'm definitely high on this. The ensemble is also super talented. - The Following: Yes. - The Mindy Project: I will watch, but that trailer was not doing it for me. But there's a ton of potential there. And I really like Mindy. - Go On: Laugh a few times. Seems emotionally manipulative, but I'll definitely give it more than one episode. - The New Normal: One one hand, I'm really happy that Bartha's character isn't as obnoxiously stereotypical as he was in the script. He played it down and it works better. On the other... I just don't know. I also can't stand NeNe. - Animal Practice: Much funnier than expected. The "every day is a gift!" line got a laugh. - Guys With Kids: Eh. Cast seems charming, but eh. - Chicago Fire: 1) I love the NBC drama voice guy. 2) It's a Dick Wolf procedural, so, yeah. 3) Holy shit, is this the sexiest cast of any new drama or what?! |

Revolution looks interesting - nice to see another trope of sci-fi hit the mainstream. The Following's premise seems ridiculous, but everyone involved is pretty fucking ace for network television (Purefoy, son!). And Elementary is actually happening? Wow.
Otherwise, gg ABC: Yes, I would watch Terry O'Quinn and Andre Braugher in anything. |

Alright the Charlie's Angels reboot was awful but it's a really tough slot and this doesn't sound like a good lead in for Grey's Anatomy at all. And 8 o'clock for a Shawn Ryan drama? Again, though I haven't read it myself, I heard mixed things about the pilot script but I'm always eager to check out something from Mr Ryan. This could be the fall's biggest question mark. :( A great bit of scheduling for ABC here. These three dramas could form a potent night of 'must see TV' for ABC replacing Desperate Housewives with a night of female skewing (?) genre shows.

Been looking for this thread. Ben & Kate looks great. Love Nat Faxon! I'll also be tuning into The Mindy Project and Goodwin Games as well. Good amount of solid-looking new comedies this season. Network dramas I'm always on the fence about, though. I'll give Revolution and Last Resort a shot.

ABC:
The Neighbors: Some good jokes in the trailer, though the effects look shitty. Not sure what you can realistically expect in that department though, especially for a half hour comedy series on ABC. I could see the alien angle getting tiring after a short while. 666 Park Avenue: American Horror Story has come to ABC. Looks pretty bad just from the trailer, but it could be fun. Last Resort: Dat budget. :O With Shawn Ryan behind it it could be a great series. I have faaaaith! Red Widow: Generic action soap. Looks similar to The Mob Doctor. Zero Hour: Scary baby eyes >:(. Seems like nothing but a series of action/mystery cliches. Mistresses: Awful looking Desperate Housewives clone. Though it has Sun from Lost so it can't be all bad. <3 Nashville: Meh. Poor Connie Britton. Malibu Country: Looks horribad. Why Reba? Why? ;_; How to Live With Your Parents: "Jelly tastes so good on a penis." I think that about sums it up. The Family Tools: Looks terrible. The voice over guy ruined all the trailers. So far: Fox>ABC=NBC.
