It's just a matter of confirming the transaction and that's it. Not sure if this is the same when the transaction is made for the first time on another console though. |

are you sure this happened this way..? After the Sony Hack, they changed how the system works..
A friend on PSN shared a game with me. He gave me his password and I logged on to his account. But he had a Credit card tight to his account, so when I accesed his account, a screen pop up straight away telling me to enter the security digits of his card. If I did not do this the card would be removed from the account. I did not know the last four digits, so I did not type in anyhting. And the card was removed. I told him that his card was removed once I finished downloading the game.. So for me to acces his account AND use his credit card I had to know 3 things. - His email (tied to his PSN account) - His password (for the PSN account) - the security digits for his credit card. but again this was in Europe.. maybe it is different in other parts of the world.. |

Looks like you didn't do a good job of formatting it! |

Already all done and taken care of. The wheels are in motion with my bank. I'm just bummed as hell, because until this blows over, I don't have the funds available to pick up Diablo 3 anymore :(

Have Credit Cards always been tied to a console? When I got my Slim PS3 right after it came out and I transferred everything over I was still able to access my card tied to the account without verifying anything except my account password.
That was a long time ago though.

Sony, for all its faults has a decent set up in that it doesn't store security codes on the network, it's stored locally, so I don't understand how the OP had his CC charged. |

The only way I can think of is that they had his CC#, security code and his PSN login credentials. |

I honestly don't understand it either, I have not had this CC that long, it was just renewed a few months ago. If it wasn't a straight up account hack, and maybe I was just sloppy when I've sold/traded PS3s before, then this could just be my fault. It is true that this is not the only PS3 I've owned, so I've sold ones I've had before that may have had account information of mine already stored on them...but I've always formatted the drive, and I've changed my password enough times that any old systems I've owned should not have had my info still on it. I've always deleted my profiles, and made sure so that they were wiped clean.

If whoever compromised his account had all those details, I'd recommend doing a credit check ASAP. Who knows what the hell else they've been up to. I don't want to frighten the OP, but security codes aren't stored on the network, unless Sony changed this requirement in the past year, so there's something off about this. |

Write your passwords on a piece of paper and keep them somewhere safe. The chances of someone breaking into your house and stealing your email password over your TV is much more slim than someone hacking shared password accounts online. |

But that doesn't matter anyway, it's a recent card...so that just adds to the bafflement. There's something really suspect about this, I don't want to alarm you but you should probably get a credit check done. |

I recommend you to watch in how many systems is your account active:
https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com You can de-active all systems every six month from here, then you will recover donwloading gaming times. Here you can manage your passwords, billing options, and so... - Is very confortable to delete your credit card once you have ended your purchase attempts.

Oh that Video/Music activation only can be de-activated via Sony call service (if you don't have the activated device).
They are used to this issue, they gonna ask you what's your email account and in less than one minute your account will be de-activated. That's a shitty problem cause Unlimited Music trial from PS+ members sony gave time ago makes your account Music active once you active Game device forever.
