It is essentially a mini game and somehow reminds me DISSIDA FF. Don't get me wrong, the battle system doesn't change. But you can set the level of Lightning before the fighting. It will record highest battle score you got, like an arcade mode.

I assume that if you set Lightning at a lower level and you beat him faster, you get a higher score?

Sounds interesting. How is it story-wise? One cutscene at the start and one cut-scene at the end of the battle, or is there more to it?

There are 00002 cutscenes before the battle. Lighting sees Serah's fate (some scenes from the ending) during the first one. Then in the second, Serah was trapped by some mysterious forces and Lightning tries to rescue her before Caius shows up. Then the fight starts.

I haven't finished the fight yet (it looks like a long battle) so I cannot tell what will happen after that...

The fight is pretty fun so far....

After the cutsene, it switches back to the normal coliseum where you can control Noel+Serah to choose Snow from the menu. Sorry I didn't do the fight and jumped into Lightning's DLC, so I don't know what's the battle like yet :p

You use your time-travelling skills from FF XIII-2 to come back at the beginning of FF XIII and fix all the problems that were had with the game in a classic retelling of the original story that came out only 3 years ago :P

A lot of the cutscenes seem like they're flashbacks, indeed. Edit: 'cept for this one.

Lightning's six roles are something like Attacker Paladin, Blast Shaman, Blast Wizard, Enhancer Adept, Defense Paladin, and Jamming Witch.
