Yes, I find online passes to be more disgusting than even day 1 DLC/on disc DLC.
It's why I've gone from 10-15 new and 3-4 used games a year to 1-3 new games a year 3-4 used and the rest rentals. If publishers don't want my money that's fine I'm enjoying the savings. |

Given Mortal Kombat I sort of wonder if they may fade away. EA will keep pushing them forward, and Sony was one of the first to use the idea, but it seems like an idea that may be good in theory (if you have to cover online fees then require a new copy or a $10 code!) is garbage in practice (fewer people playing online, meaning fewer people stay around, meaning less DLC sold) not to mention I wonder how heavy of a server strain it even is with largely peer-to-peer online.
Of course if the worst case scenarios about anti-used games next gen pan out I guess online passes WOULD be utterly pointless. :/ |

I don't buy anything that has an online pass unless I know it is something I will be spending a ton of time on. Fortunately for my wallet that has pretty much been exclusively Madden. Anything else I rent and if the MP is appealing enough, $10 to get my fill is better than feeling like I overspent with $60.
Twisted Metal is a great example of the latter. Even after the broken ass demo I bought day one for $60. The only play as of a month or so ago when I last booted it up is broken and too much of a hassle to play. Had I followed my usual online pass stance I'd of saved $50. |

I made only one exception. That was Twisted Metal. Other then that I've avoided them.
Prime example Arkham City. I only just bought the PC version via gamefly last week when it was on sale for 15 bucks. I said Since the console versions had an online pass in the form of the Catwoman shit I would not buy those versions and would only buy the PC version when 10 or 15 bucks as a result for including online passes in those. So they ended up losing a good 105 bucks from me for having an online pass cause I probably would have bought both the PS3 and Steam versions like I did with Arkham Asylum.

Me > devs > other consumers.
I buy all my games new, so it hasn't negatively effected me. Devs/pubs get extra money from the used games peasants. server costs and whatnot. So I dont mind it. it's better than pre order dlc. Or locking out used games in general.

I buy my games. I rarely borrow games and it is extremely rare for me to buy a used game so...online passes have very little impact on my gaming.
