Haha. As much as I liked DeVito in Batman Returns, I never liked how much they padded his fat suit. That always bugged me. And going back to an older post:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMnwzlwM1qs Gordon from the animated series was well done too.

Devito was a greak Penguin, but was he like the comic books version?
I loved the Burton batmans, but they definately had a Burton feel to them, which I loved, but still, lots of people complain that it wasnt 'batman' enough, especially Nicholson, who I liked as the Joker >.> Keaton was the best batman though! |

Another vote for Jonah Jameson. I doubt it can ever be surpassed, he does just nail it.
Also: RDJ as Ironman Heath Ledger's Joker Mark Hamill's Joker voice Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent (does not get enough praise) Patrick Stewart as Xavier Both Ian McKellen and Fassbender as Magneto. |

We are all basically saying the same things now...so who are the worst portrayals (could be either the movie was horrible and/or the actor was horrible)

LOL @ at his smug face. I love douche-tastic Thor. Shame that we'll never see it again since the character is supposed to be all 'grown up' and mature now. But I like seeing Hemsworth playing a douchebag since he normally plays a good guy. Hopefully he'll find a role in the future where he plays a bad guy instead of a good guy.

Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face was horrible. Now granted I don't hate Tommy Lee Jones, but his portrayal of Two face was so over the top and hammy that it was embarrassing to watch at times. But I think it has more to do with the direction he was given than himself. The makeup job on his face was pretty awful too.

Spider-Man is a jackass. His mouth is just as dangerous as his powers are. Tobey did none of that, and he played the role way too seriously. MJ was even worse. I've always considered MJ a super hero too. Her power is being hot as hell. Kirsten Dunst couldn't have been more of an opposite sentiment. Harry was okay, but Harry being better looking than Petey kinda defeats the entire idea.

Anyways Batman - Michael Keaton Bruce Wayne - Christian Bale JJJ - JK Simmons (fuck whoever else tries their hand at this) Superman/Clark Kent - Christopher Reeve Catwoman - Michelle Pfeiffer Joker - Heath Ledger Wolverine - Hugh Jackman Professor X - Patrick Stewart Magneto - Ian McKellen (both edited in after below poster's reminder) Also interesting note: Viggo Mortensen turned down the role of Ra's Al Ghul. I think Neeson did a fantastic job and he's always fit the mentor role. But I just like Mortensen so much more as an actor and seeing Aragorn engage Batman in a sword fight would be a really cool thing to see :(

I have no problems with Michael Caine, but Michael Gough will always be the true Alfred to me... ![]() He may not have always had the best scripts to work with, but the guy was born to play the role of Batman's butler. Batman butler battle, go. :P Also, on the flip side.... ![]() Alicia Silverstone was terrible as Batgirl. And why the hell was she written as Alfred's niece in Batman & Robin anyway?

Been mentioned a few times (including the rather large pics above this post), but Rourke's performance gets my vote. I'm a fan of the movie, but so many decent actors (not great...just decent) struggle with their lines in Sin City like they're wearing some ill-fitting suit. But Mickey Rourke clearly relishes every single line he utters, and elevates what should be a very niche movie into something everyone should at least check out.
Rourke's still so goddamn underrated as an actor (even with the recognition he received for The Wrestler). Shame what he did to himself, but I'd love to see him on screen in more meatier roles. |

The first time I saw Sin City was on satellite, and I switched to the movie during Marv's role and thought the whole movie would be about him. I kept thinking it'd be like Pulp Fiction and come back to him from before his death or something and I was like "Dammit, switch back to the ugly guy! I liked him far more." Mickey Rourke's narration was just so soothing to listen to.

Reeves as Superman. It's hard to take the most iconic comic book character and make it your own.
Ledger as Joker. What can I say. Caine as Alfred. So hard to imagine him as anyone else. Jackman as Wolverine. I didn't mind the change from ugly hairy midget to hunk. Both Professor X. He's had a lot of luck. Fassbender as Magneto. The best villain, after Joker. Hemsworth as Thor. Like a GOD. Hiddleston as Loki. Surprisingly good. Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. Finally a convincing one. Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. The best casting choice for a superhero since Superman. And JJ Jameson, right out of the comic.

Am I the only one who absolutely hated that movie almost solely due to Freeze? Ughh. |

Bit unfair to Bale to blame him for the Batman voice. He's really good as BW, and great physically as Batman, and psychologically when the scripts allowed. The Joker interrogation scene was great, for example, you really feel Joker getting under his skin, he feels useless and naked even when technically in control of that situation.
Batman just isn't that well written a part in BB/TDK. I mean, Reeve was great but his Supes was super sucky in 2.5/4 of the films because the films themselves sucked. |

Bale is great, but doesn't really define the character, if that makes sense. Not like JK Simmons with Jameson or RDJ with Stark. It'd harder to associate Bale with Batman, and vice versa.
Like, Tony Stark in the movies is much more likeable in movies than the comics because of the actor's quirks. Movie Batman is more or less comic Batman, just less of a dick. Even the schmaltzy Bruce Wayne as Bale plays him is part of Year One. So when they inevitably recast Batman for a later movie series, it won't matter as much. It could even be better, like Andrew Garfield over Tobey. He's probably too old now but Jason Isaac could be a cool Batman. And is Jameson even in The Amazing Spider-man? |

Did you watch the last two Hulk movies? Do you read the comics/know what Banner is like? If not, I guess it wouldn't matter, but I think he's really perfect for it. Best casting in the MCU since RDJ imo.
