So this game is addicting... 8 hours in, just got to Act II. Loving it. The difficulty seemed to ramp up as I got to Act II (which was welcome as I felt a little too powerfull Act I.)

Oh it does? I'm currently feeling the same way about Act I so I was hoping for more of a challenge. Skeleton king was a bit frantic but not hard by any means.

Unlike most, I expected these issues. I don't, however, think it's good form at all. Blizzard has launched an MMO in the past. They have the experience as to how to handle this sort of thing. This is incredibly sloppy of them.

They really have no excuse... but hardcore players will deal. But first time players probably well just quit out right. if it continues for a week or more. Shame really.

Yeah in your options check the "advanced tooltips".

I didn't log into Cata till two weeks after it launched, but I remember that in Wrath the worlds servers were fine, but all instanced stuff went to shit.

I'm guessing the infrastructure for this stuff is different and they are trying to figure out how to best sort the server loads. Ultimately people need to relax this is just how things are when you have millions of people all trying to use your service at once. The character loss thing is unacceptable though.

Huh, having your weapons determine spell damage is a bit weird.

Playing lvl 9 Witch Doctor and I had the default Ceremonial Dagger for 2 hours. My posion darts were doing 2 points per hit and I thought I was kicking some serious as at that point. Until I decided to just upgrade the dagger despite never actually using it and then my poison darts are doing 9-10, basically bull dozing everything with darts and bats.

It's pretty cool, but weird. Can't help but think it's unintentional.

You need to have a look at the exp curve. It gets sick at 50, but not before ... 5 exp isn't that bad.

Yeah, that doesn't seem to scale all that well. I've got some +10 stuff in Act 3 of Normal, but it's getting less and less worth it. Now, rubies socketed in helms give % bonuses to experience, and I'm inclined to use one of those until I hit 60.

The other affix that struck me as kind of bizarre is the +max arcane power one. Come on - the point of having unique class items is that they can have class-specific affixes. This is just a wasted slot on a wand. Up until level 15 or so you're still going to see the occasional "+1 to max AP". And even going all the way up to +4 just isn't that big of a deal; I'd prefer almost any other affix.

I was more getting at that I remember Act 1 +EXP/kill mod being at +3 or +4; I figured Nightmare would be a bit higher than that. Though, I also think that the EXP scale from Normal -> Nightmare -> Hell -> Inferno isn't that big anyway so I guess +5 isn't awful.

It's strange but definitely a welcome change for me. It makes weapons the primary equipment for all the classes, as opposed to D2 where it didn't matter as much for the caster classes.

There's bunch of ingame cutscenes, a couple of those paper style cutscenes with a voice over and a full CGI cutscene per act.
