This is exactly how I feel about the show. Her character is the least likeable of the 4. My wife records the show, but I've grown to like it simply because of Schmidt, Nick and Winston.

I don't hate her. She is hot and cute.

Asking a phone is it raining outside when looking out the window is stupid for a high profile nationwide commercial is stupid!! lol

If Eli Manning did this commercial and a thread was made about it, it would say, it's dumb still!

If anything, her explicitly telling me "eat some Doritos, aren't I quirky? p.s. im making a shitload of money" is a little more honest about her artistic intentions than "tee-hee am I going to kiss this boy or will I be too nervous? Find out after some Doritos ads!"
That's not my point. My point is that she has hit it big in multiple venues and is shilling products. On top of that, she positions herself as some sort of indie queen. The first sentence conflicts with the second sentence. There's nothing left field or quirky about Apple products. All artistic merit is thrown out the window when you see actors starting to push fast food (Salma Hayek Burger King commercials), credit cards, and electronics. If she wants a side project she could always do plays. You know, like legit actors do.

I hate these siri commercials because of how they try to make siri seem like some AI buddy. "You can take the night off," "Today, we're dancing," etc. I just hate when tech products overstate their capabilities. These commercials are especially bad, because siri doesn't work that fast.

But I will say they are a huge upgrade over Rock God, which is easily my least favorite commercial of all time.

No it wouldn't, don't be silly -- it's clearly tailored to her schtick. I like Zooey, we watch New Girl and I've seen most all of her films but the commercial is still mostly obnoxious. "Is that raaaaain?" is going a bit too far.

Schmidt is the best sitcom character in years. He consistently has all the good lines, too. Ironically, the preening "douche" character ends up super likeable and Zooey's cute thing ends up grating more than pleasing.

Same here. When I watched "My Idiot Brother", I didn't even know she was even in it until I saw her name in the credits.

I hear the name every where. I do know that she's in that show on FOX "New Girl" though.

Being quirky and cute.

She was in an super duper "indie" band She & Him. She was also in a couple movies, Hitch Hikers Guide and her supposed break out roll in (500) Days of Summer.

She is now on a Fox show called The New Girl, which is super adorkable.

Hoo boy. So many people calling her out on breaking some kind of "indie" value system.

First off, I'd bet the first time a lot of you heard the phrase, "indie band" it was already describing somebody on an imprint owned by Universal. Indie describes a stupid aesthetic at this point and we all know it.

Second, there never was a singular indie "scene" with a value system the way there was with certain punk subgenres. It transitioned from a term to describe any number of genres doing work without labels, right into a genre catch all to lazily describe a sound.

So let's save our breath on this kind of hand-wringing. It feels like you're calling somebody out but really you're tossing empty words into thin air.

I know that this might seem to be a bit of a stretch to play devil's advocate, as I certainly am not in love with that commercial, but I don't know if that "is it raining?" question is really all that absurd given the perception of Siri's response time that they're trying to play up. I mean, she's in her bathroom when she asks the question, and presumably there are no windows. I'll often just kind of instinctively go "is that rain?" to my wife (for instance) when I hear the faint sound of water hitting my roof.

But, anyway, I can see why people find the commercial annoying.
