Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider

One is she was just there for eye-candy. Two, is that it was a plot device, where once her cover was blown and she put on her SHIELD Agent pants, she was pretty no nonsense, all about business. |

That's dumb. The men are sexualized in these things just as much. Notice how the muscles are caricatures of male forms. They are exaggerated in the poses as well.
Men and women have different things that sexualize them, and putting men into feminine poses doesn't help anyone's case. It's the nature of these things. They are power fantasies. If anyone is bothered by patriarchal and/or sexualized imagery, they should probably not be watching, or in anyway caring about, the vast majority of the comic book industry or any extension of it. People get too uptight about it. |

The Escher girls tumblr has plenty of examples of how ridiculous the boob + butt pose is.

That goes back to some of the earliest artistic portrayals of the female form. It's exaggerated that way because they are contortions that men are far less capable of and appeal to the mental models we have for the sex.

What always bothers me most is the posing. It completely breaks the illusion when women in comics make that fucking twisty pose that no human being would ever do.
Yeah, it should be better. But as long as men are writing and drawing 90% of superhero comics, it's gonna be a slow process. |

During a lot of those conversations, I recall most of the camera framing on her was from the shoulders up at least in the first ME. I'm not saying you're incorrect, just that I didn't really notice.

A lot of these types of opinions seem overly judgmental, idealistic, and prescriptive. Like, I'm all for gender equality, but I still masturbate to some really sexist shit. These movies are cheap entertainment, and yes, they do reflect the times, but it's probably better to just describe the trend than to judge it. These aren't statement movies. |

The men's sex appeal is being used as much as the female's. |

I also don't think it's overly judgmental to point out that a lot of the poses that female comic book characters make are stupid. Because... they really are. |

That said, I don't like the new costume. Short hair is fine, less skin is smart, but to me this costume suffers from two major issues: it isn't as distinctive as the previous version, and the double gold lines are uncomfortably reminiscent of Wonder Woman. Hopefully this costume will evolve into something a bit more iconic before too long. Looks a lot better in the picture Slayven posted, so it's by no means an eyesore. But I wish it was a bit more like Moonstone's Dark Avengers Ms Marvel costume (third image). ![]() ![]()

And would it be too much to ask to have some more heroines with muscles? |

I think our mainstream film media being dominated by young adult fiction adaptations, comic book adaptations, toy adaptations, and other generally retarded shit, says way more about the state of our culture than anything else here. All of that shit is stupid. I don't have a problem with these productions, and enjoy many of them, but they take an overwhelming share of the box office success.

C'mon son.
I'd much rather get the weird new hair, than the generic hair 95% of Marvel female characters have. And her old costumes were the definition of generic. So is the new one. |
