Yeah, totally found out about this a while ago, watched a video or two some months ago. Yesterday an employee at GameStop let me look at the guide. I've now written three blog posts about this game after spending hours with the demo.

A few more shots.

Fighting undead down in the Everfall.

Right before getting raped by tentacles of the evil eye. An early mission you are supposed to retreat from.

Witchwood. That is mist that makes it look so fogged out.

I have been doing nothing but side quests pretty much and am starting to feel like I am out growing the fodder on the early roads at level 18. Without level scaling you really can feel the growth and it's great. It also serves as a nice gauge that tells you when you are ready to move on a bit.

Trading Pawns in is also a must and is both fun and refreshing at the same time. Even when you hire a couple that are a few levels above you, you soon find that they outlive their usefulness as you and your main Pawn level up and they are the same level as they were when you hired them.

I currently have a great female sorcerer named Soo Too that is level 21. Highly recommend her with her lightning weapon buffs, and fire walls that blow enemies to smithereens. She is going on my favorites for sure. Whoever Soo Too belongs to, great job. That is if by some chance you read this.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of Diablo 3, can't wait for this.

I was somewhat set on Magic Archer, but there's something appealing about Assassin.

I'm so tempted to see if I can cancel my pre-order from Newegg to get it a few days earlier through Amazon now that they have added the $10 credit. It's just Newegg cost me $47.99 and Amazon would cost me $59.99 but I'd get the $10 for future games (I usually do buy stuff on amazon). Would've been great if that $50 price from some other site made Amazon change the price but no they probably won't. I'd technically be paying $2 more if I got it on Amazon. -tears hair out-

lol

Also, Ironcreed, you're making it worse. That foggy forest looks great. =D

There's a new game plus or something right? Or I can still linger in the world after beating the main quest to finish any other side quests I hope (ala Skyrim)?

I think Robert Cram already confirmed both of these. I remember him saying just when you think the game is over, it isn't. There's more to do afterwards.

It's supposed to be a big surprise after a bewildering ending (there is apparently more than one ending as well). Robert Cram from MSXbox World said that after 60 hours he finally went ahead and beat it, only to be shocked to find that it was nowhere near done with him after the credits rolled. He said, "that is when you know that Dragon's Dogma has you by the balls."

I can tell just from my 9 hours with the game so far that it is a slow burner. Loads of quests in such a small area. I am not even scratching the surface yet, but am unlocking some great abilities for my Assassin. For all but the Warrior, there is an ass load of abilities as well.

Are you playing with no pawns? As an assassin that is. I mean, there they are in your pics, but I wonder how it pans out with them.

Looking forward to this game, but I've still got a nagging feeling that the role-playing elements are going to be watered down in favor of the focus on parties and combat. I don't know if I want to drop $60 on it just yet.

No way. After you level up some, it would not be difficult to handle some goblins, wolves or harpies in early areas alone, but when you run into more powerful foes like an Ogre, then your whole party can get wiped out with ease. The game is designed around having a party with the Pawns and those who try to solo beyond fodder foes and low level beasts will find out soon enough, lol.

Yeah. Even if there's an augment that makes your character more powerful with no pawns, it's probably better as a backup augment rather than ridding yourself of them entirely and try'n to do it all yourself. I wouldn't think the boost would make you so powerful you could make up for the lack of 3 party members. lol

I don't have that augment yet, but I imagine it is for when your party is getting wiped out, you get a boost. Like in the demo, I can easily see soloing a low level beast. But outside of that and easy road trash like goblins, the game is obviously designed with a balanced party in mind. You go up against something a couple of levels above you and you can get blasted in one or two shots. Lets you know real quick that your not as powerful as you thought just because those goblins and packs of wolves pose no threat.

Hehe yeah. That's sort of what I meant as using it as a backup; when they die. Will help you stand a better chance on your own while try'n to raise everyone.

Also, I caved and canceled my pre-order on Newegg. I pre-ordered it for $47.99 on there, but I wouldn't have gotten it til Friday. But Amazon had it for $59.99 (no tax) and a $10 credit towards future purchases. I do the bing rewards thing so I had a $5 amazon credit sitting around. Used that to get it for $54.99. So, technically, I'm gaining $3 that way. And getting it Tuesday.

Just kinda wanted to not be left too far behind in sharing experiences with you guys. Though I'm sure this thread will be alive for quite awhile (I hope). The Xenoblade thread lasted a REALLY long time.

I honestly think that at the end game especially new game + to 70% style bonuses will be significant. Max stats pushed a little farther. Played right with the night time bonuses as well i'm sure there is quite a bit to do solo. It's like watching the master classes of DMC... watch people post videos of the fastest they can take down a cyclops solo.

As a boon to players rolling a full party.. i suppose it might be nice.. but when bringing your party back to life is as easy and powerful as it is in this game it seems the effect would take place so rarely the augment wouldn't really be useful at all.

They said there are premade pawns in the game, so you should be able to, but I think the online function probably don't need a super good internet, so you could still give it a try, it's a basic download/upload characters kind of deal and updates everytime you're at an inn.

Totally.

Instead of the community user created pawns you get random (system) generated pawns.

This game is awesome, I'm fucking enjoying it my GOTY so far :)

i posted the following quotes earlier in this thread :)

Quote:
from the OXM UK Review (8/10) - HOOOOOBOOOOOOOY!

Quote:
"New game + is self-explanatory, but there's also a partially online mode that lets you team up with other people to try and fight a super-dragon. We didn't get a chance to try all this stuff out, but even after 40 hours it felt like there was still a bunch of new stuff to do. We specialised in magic and archery classes, and can't wait to play through again using melee-based classes."
Here the link to the review:
http://www.oxm.co.uk/41418/reviews/d...review/?page=3

and a link to Matt's FAQ he did, while playing DD:
http://www.oxm.co.uk/41635/features/...ions-answered/

Quote:
Is there a new game+ and what is it like?

There is a New Game + mode, which lets you carry over all your experience and items. It might have been the case that we'd levelled up too much, but we personally found NG+ rather easy, especially in contrast to the brutal end-game enemies that we'd faced before it. NG+ is still fun, but some might prefer to just stay in the end-game. We didn't get to test the semi co-operative Ur-Dragon stuff, but it's worth having a look before you decide to start over.
and on a personal note: goddamnit, 5 more days for me ... took one week off from work for DD. nice change for the normal nerdy call of duty vacation O,o

looked out for the guide at amazon germany. 4-5 weeks til delivery, but only 15€ ... i'll check a local bookstore later, maybe i have a chance too get it earlier... man, i can't wait... 3 days at work, thursday is the first day off, where i will finish all the things that need to be done in advance, so i can play 24/7 for 6 days =)

No installation on PS3 - not even optional. But loading times just take a few seconds, the technical stuff did a pretty good job on that.

I bet people thought the plot was boring since it was a rehash of just about every other rpg mixed together. For those of us who haven't played a million and a half RPGs, it should be good enough.

I actually read every single book that I find in the Elder Scrolls games, not because it's interesting, but because I paid for it.

Devil May Cry fluid combat? This is GOTY, no questions.

I'm still ticked at the frame-rate however, I hope a PC version is announced.

PS3 is the best version currently.

I'll take humor and character over boring and bland.

So the on-disc DLC takes the form of additional quests? Hopefully better than the quests that most every reviewer is panning. Perhaps new enemies (hopefully).
