Yeah, totally found out about this a while ago, watched a video or two some months ago. Yesterday an employee at GameStop let me look at the guide. I've now written three blog posts about this game after spending hours with the demo.

I have been doing nothing but side quests pretty much and am starting to feel like I am out growing the fodder on the early roads at level 18. Without level scaling you really can feel the growth and it's great. It also serves as a nice gauge that tells you when you are ready to move on a bit.

Trading Pawns in is also a must and is both fun and refreshing at the same time. Even when you hire a couple that are a few levels above you, you soon find that they outlive their usefulness as you and your main Pawn level up and they are the same level as they were when you hired them.

I currently have a great female sorcerer named Soo Too that is level 21. Highly recommend her with her lightning weapon buffs, and fire walls that blow enemies to smithereens. She is going on my favorites for sure. Whoever Soo Too belongs to, great job. That is if by some chance you read this.

I'm so tempted to see if I can cancel my pre-order from Newegg to get it a few days earlier through Amazon now that they have added the $10 credit. It's just Newegg cost me $47.99 and Amazon would cost me $59.99 but I'd get the $10 for future games (I usually do buy stuff on amazon). Would've been great if that $50 price from some other site made Amazon change the price but no they probably won't. I'd technically be paying $2 more if I got it on Amazon. -tears hair out-

I think Robert Cram already confirmed both of these. I remember him saying just when you think the game is over, it isn't. There's more to do afterwards.

Robert Cram from MSXbox World said that after 60 hours he finally went ahead and beat it, only to be shocked to find that it was nowhere near done with him after the credits rolled. He said, "that is when you know that Dragon's Dogma has you by the balls."

I can tell just from my 9 hours with the game so far that it is a slow burner. Loads of quests in such a small area. I am not even scratching the surface yet, but am unlocking some great abilities for my Assassin. For all but the Warrior, there is an ass load of abilities as well.

Even if there's an augment that makes your character more powerful with no pawns, it's probably better as a backup augment rather than ridding yourself of them entirely and try'n to do it all yourself. I wouldn't think the boost would make you so powerful you could make up for the lack of 3 party members. lol

Hehe yeah. That's sort of what I meant as using it as a backup; when they die. Will help you stand a better chance on your own while try'n to raise everyone.

Also, I caved and canceled my pre-order on Newegg. I pre-ordered it for $47.99 on there, but I wouldn't have gotten it til Friday. But Amazon had it for $59.99 (no tax) and a $10 credit towards future purchases. I do the bing rewards thing so I had a $5 amazon credit sitting around. Used that to get it for $54.99. So, technically, I'm gaining $3 that way. And getting it Tuesday.

Just kinda wanted to not be left too far behind in sharing experiences with you guys. Though I'm sure this thread will be alive for quite awhile (I hope). The Xenoblade thread lasted a REALLY long time.

Played right with the night time bonuses as well i'm sure there is quite a bit to do solo. It's like watching the master classes of DMC... watch people post videos of the fastest they can take down a cyclops solo.

They said there are premade pawns in the game, so you should be able to, but I think the online function probably don't need a super good internet, so you could still give it a try, it's a basic download/upload characters kind of deal and updates everytime you're at an inn.

The game is single-player only. Online is only for the Pawn system.

Doesnt the PS3 version force you to install anyway? So its not really streaming. Amalur sucked on the 360 as well unless it was installed. Fortunately I have a 320 gig drive to install all my stuff on. Surprised that Cram didn't mention this though.

No installation on PS3 - not even optional. But loading times just take a few seconds, the technical stuff did a pretty good job on that.

I bet people thought the plot was boring since it was a rehash of just about every other rpg mixed together. For those of us who haven't played a million and a half RPGs, it should be good enough.

Reviewers: does anyone have a retail/promo copy of the game already and tried to transfer the savestate from the review build to the retail version? Don't want to lose my 30+ hours char and spend all the time again ;(

That ign review reads like the oxm review/q&a for some reason, they made the same points, but I guess there aren't really more left to say about the game, but they say the same thing coincidentally lol

After that exciting start, Dragon’s Dogma’s plot pretty much disappears for the next 35 or so hours, reappearing at the end to deliver a conclusion so bonkers that it’s destined to turn up in Weirdest Endings lists for years to come.

It's very weird and remarkably sparse, but in retrospect we enjoyed the story. The execution tends to be awful, but there are some cool ideas beneath all the bobbins. We'd forgotten about the main plot until we arrived at the final 5 hours, but the stuff that happened at the end was insane. We're not sure if everyone will get the same ending, but the one that we got was unbelievably bizarre. Expect to see it popping up in list features for years to come.

I wouldn't trust IGN on framerate, because I've heard the ps3 version dives pretty bad in the final version, even though they could be wrong, but I would wait for a comparison and confirmation.

But the pawns outside the main do not level up, right...? Or the random system generated pawns picks characters near or around your level?
