I'm only about 5 hours or so in, but am loving this game so far. Started off as Strider, dabbled with Magick Archer and went back to Strider again. Got a new skill last night called Advanced Trigger. It lets you knock enemies up into the air, then launch an incendiary at them Awesome combat, love the way you can mix things up. Roll on tonight so I can get back on it again :) |

Forgery in this game is amazing. I've always loved stuff like that since Star Ocean 2's magic camera duplication stuff.
There is stealing (skills called Pilfer and something else), but I haven't tried to yet. If you're interested in other thief-like RPG things, there is also an item that lets you attack with your money (Coin Purse of Charity), but it's one time use and took 10k from me when I tried it. Maybe it's super damaging or something...? Just throwing that out there. |

I'll probably try that out later when I've amassed some gold. |

Hmm game progression in this game sure is weird. I just got to Gran Soren and did the pawn quest, after that I got a "Lost and Found quest failed" pop-up. I've never even gotten to the Witchwood and you're already punishing me for not doing so? As far as I know the Witchwood is further away than Gran Soren, this seems very unfair and it also seemed like an important quest invlolving a major npc.
Other than that the game is amazing, but I hope the game doesn't pull this on me too often. It makes the whole 1 save thing a pretty big issue. |

This game.. THIS GAME!
It blows every RPG of the last couple of years out of the water. Where it lacks in story and presentation, it completely makes up with its atmosphere, difficulty, combat and monster designs. If people want to go back to the roots before the time of Oblivion, Mass Effect and so on, they should definitely try this game out. Do not feel stupid by not being able to enjoy this game the first few hours. Once you reach a certain time (mostly around 6-8 hours) this game just starts to click and it will be the only game you think about despite the other game releases that were present the last couple of weeks. This is the definitive proof that Japanese companies can provide a much better RPG experience. |

They are not time sensitive. They are main quest progression sensitive. Completing the pawn quest in Gran Soren makes everyone's Witchwood quest fail no matter how long you have been waiting.

I gave someone's pawn a forged Skeleton Key. Asshole mode activated.
I also just spent a good 2 hours where I started a session trying to get from the starting town to Gran Soren to turn in a quest. ![]() Ended up exploring a bit before the bridge you cross and went into a dungeon. The place was half flooded and I found a ton of good items in here. Got to the end and a cyclops flipped out on my party, and like any good leader I ran past him and looted all the chests while my pawns fought. He apparently knocked off and killed my 2 hired pawns while I did this, so I turned around to see my main pawn running away from this drenched monster that just murdered half of my team. ![]() Ended up taking him down, but I then realized how damn useful mages are, because I had a lot of grey health that couldn't be healed and we were both Heavy due to all the really good stuff I was finding here. I was able to double jump to some hard to reach caverns and found a way to drain the water which probably means there's a lot more to the place, but I saw my first phantom, shot an arrow at it and it exploded into a couple orbs that flew around so I decided to get the hell out of there. This game really has an unmatched sense of adventure and exploration. They have TONS of hidden stuff both in the world and in dungeons/mines, you can jump around and climb to find chests hidden all over the place. |

So I just beat the game, and what the fuck is going on? Questions about the ending, and the after credits within.
What happens in the final boss fight if you decide to take the dragons offer and kill the girl? Also, past that, what's up with the Sky? And the super tough monsters everywhere? But most of all, what the fuck is with the Godsbane knife listed under tools, that only I can use, and gives me "true freedom" when I use it, I take it out and look like I'm going to stab myself with it! I'm baffled. |

If you're talkin' about the Guts and Griffith armor sets they're not DLC they're in the game already. You have to go to the Ancient Quarry outside of Gran Soran and do the quest just outside of the entrance. Then once it's cleared and the gate is open, talk to him...he'll go inside and set up shop where he sells it. I think I paid like 400k for the Guts set. Griffiths is around the same.
The guys name is Alon and his quest is called "Of Merchants and Monsters".

400k for the Berserk armors? Geez. I'm nearly 20 hours in and I think the most I've ever had at any one point is 100k. Actually looking at my total gold acquired over the course of the game, I've only gotten around 360k total. That 10,000,000G trophy is gonna be a bitch to get. :lol

Are you sure? I was messing around and suddenly my pawns start talking about the flower quest and that we should hurry collecting them.

I missed out on the Witchwood quest too because I took the Hydra head to Gran Soren and did the pawn quest after that. Pretty lame how it canceled my quest! They need to let you know that certain ones are big priorities or they'll be lost.
Other than that, the game is awesome. I really think its top 5 of the year for me come December. Tried to buy Captain's Armor last night, but PSN was down. I'm going to do it today and hopefully post pics on GAF soon after. |

some random shots early in my play through. started out as a fighter and switched to sorcerer. my character looks completely different now, will be uploading an almost 2 hr video traveling from deep in witchwood to the catacombs. I have to say, the sense of adventure and atmosphere in this game is incredible, of course the combat and attention to detail is also outstanding. after casting meteor at night and seeing the tiny individual flashes of each meteor light up simultaneously before raining down is awesome

So while my gf was watching me play she started calling me a punk while doing a escort mission cause I was standing still in the dark waiting for morning. So of course I attempt to prove her wrong only to run into my first ever Ogre not only was it my first encounter with one but it had a helmet on to deflect my arrows >_<. We finally get the upper hand only to have a bunch of striders attack. Each arrow pretty much put me in critical so I make a tactical retreat only to get ambushed by a chimera :(. The person I was escorting died and I got two mission failures.

CAPTAIN'S ARMOR from the "Coiffure You Can't Refuse" DLC. Its the outfit on my main pawn, standing just right of me (I'm holding the lantern).
![]() And one more shot... ![]() STATS: DEF: 245 Magick DEF: 165 Piercing Resist: 7% Striking Resist: 7% Elemental Resist: 3% (An E turned on its side, not sure what it means) 4% (looks like a star, maybe it means holy or lightning, not sure) Debilitation Resist: 18%

I went Ranger instead of faux-Jehuty. Eh. Knock back on arrows is nice and they back a punch, but it's a tad slow. I'm thinking of switching to a melee class after I max out this one. Might do whatever class uses 2Hs because I found a 3XX strength sword. I fucking love that you can do this though.

Personally, I did damn well last night. I'm level 31 now and changed over to assassin (still using daggers and underwhelmed by the sword/shield skills available so far). I went into this place last night which had two ogre's hiding in the depths of it in a tiny space. Was one helluva fight, but thanks to some lighting from one of my pawns and explosive barrels I was able to come out on top. I've outgrown the DLC armor, so put that in storage and made a new outfit. Found some really cool shit last night - a harpy cape, a dire wolf cape (which is equipped on my pawn), and a pair of daggers which do more damage than any of the daggers I can buy in the capital and have ruins covering the blades with a faint glow to them. They look pretty sick. Oh, and I have over 500k gold now with almost nothing to spend it on. Hopefully I find some merchant later on that has some expensive shit for me to buy :P Can't wait to plunge into this over the weekend.

The character creator in this game is one of my favorite ones ever. My family team is sort of an Arya Stark -inspired little girl mage (me) and her fearsome grandaddy. Both are reallly realistic-looking characters I couldn't have really made in games like Dragon Age or Skyrim. I wish there was an option to take those ingame screenshots without enabling some social media BS though.

Man, when do I get armor like the dude on the right?
I had such an intense trek last night. "Escrot Berne" quest spoilers: It starts off pretty basic with you just killing goblins, harpies, and bandits. About halfwway there, I run into some lizardmen and start working on them when a chimera just drops down on us. Its my first time fighting one so I didnt know what to do but my pawns did! They start yelling "cut off the snake head" and right at that moment, the snake comes at me, I jump and grab, and I end up right smack dab on the snakes forehead. I just sat there shocked and started hacking away. We go at it for about 20 minutes and I finally take him down. I look around and notice that the lizards are also dead. I guess they got killed by the chimera. Its dark now. I continue walking along a ledge with falling boulders and one of my hired pawns gets in the way, takes one to the face, and slides over the edge. I had to run down to save him and thats when I notice all the lit torches in the distance. I tip toe away so the goblins dont see me and go back to the narrow ledge. Past the ledge, I turn a corner and see more lit torches and goblins start after me almost immediately. I notice a bonfire in the background but didnt think much of it and started working on the goblins. I pan the camera back to the bonfire when I realized that it wasnt a fire...it was a Cyclops flaming club. And he sees me. And hes mad. Music blares up and have to go crazy on this thing now. Another 10 mins of fighting, goblins scattered about. It was nuts but I got him. At this point, my team is hurting and Im running low on curatives but Im close so I continue forward. Pawn says "Keep an eye on the darkness for any hidden enemies" and then goblins bumrushed me. Theyre pretty easy so Im not too worried....then I hear a growl and see fire raining down from the sky. Wings start flapping and I know that theres a dragon out there. I just cant actually see him. I run and run, killing gobs along the way. The dragon never sees me but hes still hanging around above the trees, growling just enough to make me shit me pants. I get to camp, complete the quest, and cry a little bit. Theres no place to rest here, either. I have to go back :( |

As a hint, that thing drops a circle orb key, you use that near the beginning, to lower the water level, for the other half of the dungeon. |

I better start getting a bunch of RC...
I'm only at about 2,200 RC at the moment, with an ok armored pawn :/ ![]() Leaving The "DragonForged" guy's cave. Had a nice lighting effect (better in motion of course). Had an interesting trek to this location. It was night time when I made it, and as I'm trying to get up the long hill to meet this guy, I apparently had to fight off the entire world's population of Direwolves. My crew had to have killed 50 of them. Just one long 15-20 minute battle against wolves. |

I might have left out a house there. The important thing is the smithy; you can probably figure out the route from there. You can jump on top of some things inside of the smithy to get onto the roof.

You can climb on top of one of the houses a little ways down from the house he's on. Just jump across the rooftops from there. Not terribly hard.

If so, try looking around, there are various entrances to the towers on the outer wall of the capital. Go up those, and you'll end up on the wall itself, which I believe is over that house, and drop down. That's what I'm planning on doing when I get home, now that it sounds like he's up there. |
