That is really basic thinking that doesn't get to the heart of the issue. Mike Z ran into a similar issue as a Tager player against Nu in BBCT. You could double Sent's health and it wouldn't change the matchups at all. All it does is allow more random mistakes to change the flow of the gameplay and that is not good balancing or good gameplay.
They should make it easier for Sent to chase his enemies down instead of allowing for randomness to fall in his favor.

On my way home now. What's the consensus so far from the stream monster end? Seems like if there was a lot of sloppy play on stream it might not have been that great to spectate. I wasn't paying attention all the time but there were certainly hype matches. Particularly Rikir vs. Jago part one and anything with Iron Man.
I don't think Capcom had any money in the TO's pockets, or not enough of it. Seems like Marvel is just big here. TBH, the tournament seemed pretty poorly run, partially because SO many people showed up late or not at all to their matches. By my estimations, we were 3-4 hours behind. I have nothing to relatively compare it to, but I see the issues. For instance, both Marvel and AE were supposed to start at 2. They decided to start AE, and start Marvel hours later.

Also, stream #2 is responsible for Skullgirls, so the people handling all non-Capcom games are to blame for not putting it on. I am not aware of what went down there though. I don't know if it was streamed but at times they would have the projector on BlazBlue with no one playing. Probably before the tournament began, but I'm not sure.
Additionally, Quadratic and vulva are my new best friends. |

I think it was Rubello (sp?) too, or someone else playing the Blue Stealth Suit Tony who got an Iron Avenger win while the stream was being maintenance for 5 minutes or whatever.
Dahbomb is gonna be jacking off to dem archives. One thing weird I found was Joker wasn't really going for the Repulsar/Mags mixups though, which was odd, but possibly a matchup thing? |

Randomness pretty much refers to the player themselves... I guess. Most competitive fighters nowadays are built in such a way that inputting "x" leads to "y". Sometimes it leads to other results like "w" or "z" depending on your opponent's reaction(pushblock, DP, invul super, teleport, regular/alpha counter, etc) and the conditions under which you used your move(Nova's beam super that drains red health for example) also play a role. Balancing Sentinel or any other character around the one in a million chance of touching Amateratsu just seems like folly because that one touch is so rare and so many things happen once you are in that touching zone(right in their face). Give him the basic tools like other characters(Dante, Amateratsu, Morrigan, Viper, etc) and you don't have to worry about the dozens of(maybe even more thanks to assists) unpredictable things that can happen during run away. You eliminate that issue and the game reaches the good point even faster. That sweet spot or "good point" is the closeup footies, tension and inevitable combo into death. Morrigan combined with Doom is a classic example of a duo that has an entire alphabet of answers and it does slow the game down which pisses off a lot of people. The solution to this problem is not to draw out the fight with increased health even though he only has an answer for a handful of letters(no kneejerk nerfs to Morrigan either plz). The solution is to teach the robot how to read by giving him the book full of bullshit and tricks of his own. Sorry about the rant. This probably sounds kind of stupid and nonsensical
It's not such a big deal that Capcom pays the community though. That money leads to better production values and better tournaments that we get to watch for free. It's silly to complain too much about this stuff.

I don't remember specifics, but I don't believe he called Repulsor Blast once. Always went for drone mixups.

Like I agree with most of you points but that's the way of the beast. Marvel is a different game with different dynamics than something like Blazblue and you have to balance the game around those dynamics. Marvel has assists more noticeably and plenty of other things so it has to be balanced differently and around those things than a game with out. Just like how you would Balance an Arcana Heart 3 around Arcanas
You're right though his main thing was his damage out put in xfactor so it was kinda dumb to me to nerf his health instead of that. If he puts you in a situation where he has the momentum and shinning red and you're in a corner he's still gonna be able to kill you. |
