Also, GAF I must confess I was part of a "dry" wedding reception last night. Another groomsmen and I made a liquor run and threw a makeshift tailgating party in the parking lot. Am I a hero or a villain here?

Keep in mind, we had the dance floor full by 10:00.

I don't think he likes girls. As in "they annoy the shit out of him". All the little things that normal men overlook about women (insert stereotypical thing here) is just too much for him. He doesn't care. It's not worth it. He is nice and fun around our wives and girlfriends much like the way someone would act around a friends kids when they don't really like kids. There might be a better way to phrase it but that is my observation.

Oddly, his uncompromising attitude makes him even cooler IMO.

I don't think its just an uncompromising attitude any more. When women meet a 42 year old man who treats them like another couples kids its a clear tell that there is something going on.

At some point your convictions become more than your convictions.

More power to the guy I guess. I just hope its something he gets to experience before his life is over.

Edit: is it possible he was abused as a kid?

It may not be a conviction at all so much as simply an asexual orientation. There are people who just are not interested in sex.

I've had this conversation with him several times over the years. Yes, I hope he experiences both love and sex because they are awesome. He counters that he hopes I get drunk and high sometime in my life because it is awesome. See? Mexican standoff!

No, he wasn't sexually abused. His older brothers are both overacheiving assholes though and he somehow looks up to them. I think they are both dicks, but whatever. I bet they beat him up when they were all kids.

I haven't hung out with him in months. This thread inspired me to call him up!

I have a friend like that. He cares more about gaming (well, not much that anymore), movies and other things. He likes women and he often asks how I have so many attractive girl friends (yeah, just friends.... ugh) but he shows no interest himself in having a relationship. He's never talked about having a girlfriend or wanting one and I've never known him to have one in all these years. I think he's simply not interested, maybe a little afraid. He's also "straight edge" and never goes out partying or anything like that. He's also a rather muscular, tall guy who could probably get a date easily enough if he wanted to.

At least one beer x5 a week. Only thing that helps me keep my sanity after a rough day of work or when my wife/kid is driving me nuts

Every Friday and Saturday. Its either CC and Dry (hot weather) or JD and coke (All year round). Although, I reckon I could finish a whole slab of American beer and still be standing. I have heard that it is all light (Alcohol or carbs I don't know???)

Best beer in the world, Kilkenny!

Oh I read the article alright. With all the sources he was using coming from one site. I'm sure I could go and find studies that contradict each one of the sources. If there is one thing you learn in research is that sometimes you need to make a "meta" study of the studies to see which is the claim has the most evidence, and research done. Also I don't need a study to tell me that consuming a shitload of alcohol is going to cause me to gain weight.

Furthermore, some of you might be in fantastic shape due to a fast metabolism, or having the luxury of having the time to go to the gym for hours. That I don't have so I need to watch what I eat, alcohol or otherwise. And I'm out.

I want a beer... currently drinking a black russian though. This week I found a treasure chest in a box tucked away in my garage from over a decade ago. Now the chest is at the foot of my bed, and filled with liquor.

EDIT: I have a drink every other day or so, but get drunk rarely more than once a week.

A treasure chest? Now filled with liquor? at the foot of your bed?
What in the hell are you talking about?

Maybe 2-3 times ever. I don't like the taste of beers or the burn of alcohol. If they ever make like, Pepsi but it gets you wasted, then I'm on board.

Every other day probably, but I rarely get drunk. I just like a nice, relaxed buzz.

Edit: Well, every other day right now. Usually much less. Once every week or two during the school year.

People that don't drink are usually conniving mother fuckers that try and take advantage of us that drink. Never let them fool you.

Depends how I'm feeling. When I'm feeling shitty I'll have a couple drinks every day. I'm more of a binge drinker where I'll wake up extra early just to get shit faced at 8 am in morning and then head off to work and not drink for another week.

It is what it is: an old wooden chest that you'd expect to find on the set of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I keep my liquor in it.

Alcoholic drinks? Basically never, I'm not a big fan of having my mind altered honestly. I don't like myself when I am high or drunk, and it takes almost nothing to make me either, lightweight here.
