I find it very funny that here in Venezuela straight guys use the spanish word for gay (Marico) when they talk to each other. It's something like when you say "dude", well we use "marico". You only do it with people you're somewhat close to, it would be kind of rude to call an stranger that.
So there still can be a negative connotation to it if you want to but it's usually a very common word. It's kind of funny because I use it with my straight friends but not with the gay ones (not that I have many), somehow it's a very "straight" thing to do. Girls use the term Marica a lot when talking to each other too. |

It's important that this thread is not squirreled away in the Community side just in case someone is gay/bi/questioning and needs support. We don't need to not be there in a a crisis situation.

The OP should have, like, a brief guide to bears, otters, twinks, etc. so people don't get so confused.

As for the thread's openness and whether it's place is in OT or Community, it is ultimately a mod's decision. I, personally, know I wouldn't have found the other thread as soon as I did when I first joined if it were in Community so would lean to leaving it in OT. |

It didn't bother me really, just him for some reason. Everything was fine until yesterday, It kinda came out of nowhere for him to say that.

Some fringe aspects of the FGC does. "No homo" being popular there as well (but that's used jokingly, granted). But let's not start a FGC derailment here. Short disclosure though: I really don't like the FGC.

Don't want to derail but someone actually couldn't figure out why the FGC makes me uncomfortable. When they're aware I'm a transwoman. Like, seriously?

There's a lot of homophobia in there but its 12 and 13 year old guys instead of girls.. not really worth getting upset about its just a bunch of dumb kids

Tyranny of low expectations. The sooner we start holding the 12 and 13 year olds accountable for their jerkass behavior, the sooner we'll see a better world. It's not like racism is completely eradicated among that cohort, but the level of overt racism and racial slurs among them are significantly less than sexism or homophobia. That's largely because we've drawn a pretty bright line and said that such behavior will not be hand waved as youthful indiscretions.

Too old to be a cub, not hairy enough to be a bear, too thin to be a chub but too fat to be an otter... Augh... Also I don't have a single grey hair yet, so the daddy term is awkward too. And I thought the bear community was the solution to my self-estime problems. |

So, went to my first gay party last night. Came home at 8 am, and just woke up at 15:45 haha. There were around 500-600 people there. I never really danced before so in the beginning I was kind of worried about that. But I had a small Jack Daniels, a beer, and then everyone started going to the dancefloor, and I was thinking to myself oh god, oh god. I started dancing, and after 5 minutes I didn't give a fuck anymore and I danced for 5-6 hours straight with some people I know. I need some more moves though, hahaha.
Still felt like I kind of stood out though. Most of the guys there were good looking, clean shaven, and well dressed and here I am, a 6"6 guy with a beard awkwardly dancing and singing along to the Spice Girls. Had a good time regardless :P

Sounds like a good time! Any flirting?
I don't fit any the boxes I think. I guess otter would be it if I put on some more weight. Which I have no desire to do :D I was out last night, me and a taller guy were playfully flirting. At one point on the dancefloor he came up behind me, wrapped his arms around my chest, pulled me to him and slowly moved his mouth up my neck so I could feel his hot breath. Very mmmmmm. I felt like melting. |

And I did spot a couple of nice looking guys, especially one in particular, but no flirting. Maybe next time ;)

New thread? Huh.
