don't like how he's making wise cracks "not that way" like he's Nathan Drake inside a burning building and his wife/girlfriend/whatever is about to die.
seems that putting out fires/burning buildings is the new hotness. the graphics are really nice though (great lighting) and i like how expressive her face is. you can see how scared she is . |

This must be from early in the game. I dont mind a bit of structured pacing, but looking back at the E3 demo footage, and the Dr Earnhardt trailer and how open and awesome they were. This seems like a bit of story telling that got a bit too much story telling. |

That burning house video does one thing I've come to hate in so many games: toss in superfluous dialogue to point out the obvious:
"HEY! Look at that water! It puts out fire! Hey! A door! I'll break through it because I'm on a totally linear path and have no where else to go! Hey! I'm in a burning building but I'll point out that there is fire everywhere! Hey! I'm in a burning building, I can't take anymore of this heat!" Seriously dude, you're in a burning fucking building. There is probably a lot of smoke. Shut the hell up. |

Wow that looked terrible in so many different ways.
-talky, obnoxious protagonist -'cinematic moments' completely taking control of the game out of the players hand for extended periods of time -scripted linear route through building, looks boring and nothing we haven't seen a hundred times before You know what I think I'll stick with FC2 if the whole game is going to be like this. Ubisoft needs to wow me with a more sandbox or open world type video if they want me to buy this thing.

My wife said the same thing when we watched the video. I guess I'm so used to FPS's I didn't really notice.

Watched it all. What a poorly scripted scene. The building crumbling at the right time and the pursuers coming out of... where? Were they just standing by the building waiting for the guys to steal the car to start running?
I thought about that as well. Does your wife have a sister? |

Maybe people forgot because it wasn't shitty to begin with. It was 2 small but annoying problems away from being one of the greatest games of all time.

Yeah, some really bad design choices held FC2 back from being fully enjoyable. But as long as you approach the game with that expectation, it really is an impressive game at it's core.

That's all I could think when watching the video - takes you completely out of any immersion they try to create.

Far Cry 2 was fully enjoyable, you just had to deal with the respawning dudes from a distance, take your time, and cheat the weapon degradation because that was bullshit. Everything else was a fine game. Grenade launcher jeep on a hill, shooting a village to shit, can't beat that.

Yeah that looked boring as hell.
"Jason help me!" "I'm coming!" COUGH COUGH COUGH *Game tells you to shoot valves* *shoots valves* *scripted linear platforming section* "Jason help me!" COUGH COUGH COUGH *scripted linear save girl sequence* I can't imagine how much work went into making something so boring. |
