I don't like this latest update. Those shifts back to the east are alarming. Along with another issue, it has my brain keeping me up now, not sleeping. But we have food & water stockpiled here at our place. Enough for at least a month. Enough to share. And our place is on the second & third floors in a part of the city that only floods every few hundred years (The Sliver by the River), so I know that, barring roof damage, our place will be fine.
I just don't want to see trauma for this city for a long, long time. Such a drama queen, I know. And I love that Onion news clip. We have called Mexico "that big mound of dirt down there" for years now. Living in Austin for years, we'd have to explain ourselves when using that phraseology pretty often. :) |

As I've said before, is you disregard Ike as an anomaly then Texas typically goes long-assed stretches of time without a serious hurricane event. I like to think this is the result of our slightly more arid climate the past few decades and the persistence of high pressure that typically dominates our non-winter weather patterns.

Personally I'm not concerned about Ernesto too much. |

Ernesto is going through RI, Rapid Intensification. Pressure is dropping quickly, as found by the HH, and Dr. Masters even points out that a Cat 2 is not far from the equation. Also, track should be adjusted sightly northward if the trend does continue.

No good storms ever come through here anymore. We got like a mini storm yesterday and everyone freaked out but in reality it is nothing compared to what those major hurricane allys get :( I want another big one to come through not some dying tropical storm, theyre so awesome to see.......the mass destruction part sucks tho |

After a earlier fiasco, we are getting TD7... this makes 9 consecutive days with an active system, and with Florence blooming back and the massive African wave showing its muscle we are up ahead for an active August.

I guess some of that will depend on its strength, the weaker the longer it will chug west, but if it grows in intensity then it should be more likely to head poleward. Should be interesting to watch anyway!
