LTTP: RDR Undead Nightmare
#1
Got Rdr complete edition with UN included for 20 new at Walmart and first of all I am a massive pussy shitting myself playing it. Secondly, holy fuck is it good. Ok so I have issues with Zambies, I normally get nightmares about them regularly and avoid zomboe games/movies necause of this, but I'm glad I picked it up.
So now I'ma wondurin', how many people will be playing zombie games when the real zombie infestation begins? |

I loved Red Dead Redemption, but I wasn't a big fan of Undead Nightmare. The novelty wears off very quickly when you realize you're doing the same thing over and over and over again. Plus, zombies in a western setting just isn't the most exciting concept.

I'm not quite sure what is going on in this thread :lol
But I loved Undead Nightmare. Pretty cool atmosphere that differs from the main game, nailed that B-movie camp in a lot of ways. John Marston's dry, unimpressed way of interacting with people despite the situation being massively fucked up was hilarious. |

And it's great how various people keep blaming the apocalypse on random shit: the government, Mexicans, the moon, Jews, etc. and John is just like "what are you talking about?!?" |

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

I love RDR and was amazed with Undead Nightmare when I started it, with stuff like the undead horses you could tame and the Sasquatch quest. Beyond that, the DLC itself quickly lost its luster and I don't really like it much. The actual zombies aren't very fun to fight, there aren't many types. Well, not nearly enough to sustain variety throughout the missions, atleast. It just felt rote and boring by the end, but the story stuff was interesting to see. Oh, I also hit a shitty bug where the game kept freezing near the end near the nun's place...took awhile to get past that.

One of the best add-ons to one of the best games of the generation. Worked the overused zombie trope well into the RDR universe and used the existing characters well. The game mechanics weren't necessarily the greatest for when you got to a particularly hectic town (especially against those damn zombies that ran on all-fours) but the new weapons were pretty tight. Enjoyed the horde mode a lot, though, despite needing my teammates to carry me often.
Felt worse about killing the Sasquatch's, especially once you meet the last one than anything I did in the main game. |

I didn't enjoy it as much as the main game. I disliked the removal of things to do in towns. But I did enjoy seeing the characters return in such an outlandish scenario. Even bit characters like Herbert Moon. It's basically the Treehouse of Horror of RDR.

Yeah, mechanically it wasn't amazing and I didn't feel compelled to 100% it like I did with vanilla RDR, but I really loved UN's main storyline. Genuinely funny just about the whole way through.

The atmosphere is where it's at. Turn off the lights in the room, turn on the volume and go take a walk at those snowy woods where you meat the Sasquatch or the cemetery west of Hennigan's Stead. :-)
