![]() I don't think this soundtrack gets enough recognition, the composer won an award for it from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, a pretty coveted award, but because it does a great job of blending with the action, it goes mostly unnoticed. Listen to it on its own, however and its pretty clear its quite special. Agree with most of the choices in this thread though, fantastic choices. |

There really have been some great soundtracks this generation.
Deus Ex was good for sci-fi. Skyrim (arguably the best part of the game) Read Dead Redemption AC2 But the one that stands above the rest IMO is Neir. That is the most daring and creative soundtrack I have ever heard in a video game. I mean...Opera? Really? but damn it works. |

![]() It is an absolute travesty that this isn't getting more recognition. This is probably the strongest, most cohesive album of any game this gen. Both the ambient pieces and the original recordings by artists like José González and Ashtar Command are remarkable. El Club De Los Cuerpos Triggernometry Exodus in America Already Dead Far Away - José González Compass (Red Dead On Arrival Version) - Jamie Lidell Deadman's Gun - Ashtar Command Bolded = my personal favorites. Hell, the soundtrack wins for "Deadman's Gun" alone. |

Declaring something as the "best" and asking people to discuss a topic are two completely different things. Shirley, you understand this. |

My favorite as well, along with the Song of the ancients variants.

Mirror's Edge, Fez, Flower, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, and Sigma Harmonics need some more love. I do appreciate all of the Shatter, Machinarium, and Journey mentions, though :D

Uh, what? I barely remember the OST to this game. It was tepid ambient music, at best.
FFXIII, XIII-2, Valkyria Chronicles, Fallout 3 and Skyrim's OSTs are leeaaaaagues better. I can think of at least 20 other games with better soundtracks. So, yeah, strongly disagree with OP. |

Even though the soundtrack fits the game perfectly, I don't like to listen to it on its own, except for The Mole. (How is this the tune that gets most ignored!?) I have a loop of the part that starts at approx. 1:05
And since we're mentioning OSTs from other games, Dustforce's music took me totally by surprise, when I first saw the game I expected more "platformy"-style music. OST of 2012 in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_B8ekeZTCM |

DEHR audio was forgettable. Syndicate had a better soundtrack, sound design and had great sound effects.
One of my personal favorites Red Faction Guerrilla also had great sound work. One of the best soundtracks of this generation and audio design for futuristic guns, and explosions. really moody atmospheric music which sets the tone for a desolate mars environment, had great music for set pieces for those tense moments, and also had a dynamic audio system which would blend transitions and scale with the action on screen. soundtrack had insanely long 13min pieces just for ambiance.

Must have been pretty average if I don't remember a single song from the game...
I do remember the Super Mario Galaxy OST. Nintendo stepped it up with an orchestra. I also remember a little bit of the Portal 2 music. That game actually did some interesting things regarding gameplay and music. fail more OP |

... Anyways I think DE:HR had some snippets that were really awesome (detroit, limb clinic, sarif industries etc.), but the action music that popped up everytime you got spotted was pretty bad. |
