the only reason it is so limited is because we dont capture all of the rain that is falling on the ground and draining back into the ocean. also, i'm sure Chile has a lot more water than most countries because they have a lot of mountains with snow on them. |

Sorry, already been.
I both hate and love threads like these. There are so many cool sights and places to visit around the World, but you better make sure you got a wheelbarrow full of cash before you even contemplate going. Ah well, something to work towards. Don't see the reason for any kind of outrage over a pool like this. It uses the seawater, huge pumps running all the time pumping in water at one end, water out at the other end. Besides, a lot of people, especially families with small kids, will prefer a controlled environment like this, over the ocean. |

Seriously, it's just completely redundant. |

Gross
Pools are fine. They do not need to be gigantic to be controlled environments. Indeed, they become less controlled the larger they are. beaten

Simple fact of the matter is, many people on vacation, they buy experiences. Some go purely for the experiences nature can bring. But a bunch of people buy into atmosphere, scenery and comfort. This place satiates all three needs. It's absolutely not necessary, but neither is someplace like Disney World. But it's fun, it looks good and makes people feel good. |

They look like the water's just floating there in mid-air.

Don't understand all the ocean hate in here. The ocean is my favorite place in the world.
Additionally, the pool makes sense. Is it extravagant? Yes. Are there better things to spend money on? Probably, yeah. But you have to understand, this shit is in Chile. The water there is fucking cold. I mean just a short distance away from here you've got the fucking Andes mountains covered in snow. If you've got a huge tourist resort, which it looks like there is, they're going to want to swim. Also, just look at the water. You've got what looks like 30 feet of shallow water and then the depth drops off FAST. Willing to bet there is some wicked current there too and some nasty rocks underneath. Most likely its a liability for the resort to allow people to enter the ocean, even the surf looks a bit rough from the aerial view. |

It looks silly but I get it. We went to a beach resort and spent half the time at the pool since the water was fine and that's where the food was.
A the same time, they should have built it on the other side of the hotel. It would be annoying to have towalk around that to get to the beach. |

I would never go to a resort just because of its pool, much less a ridiculously large one, but I guess I can see the appeal for some people. Sometimes it's nice to swim in the controlled environment of a pool vs the ocean, and swimming in a pool at a tropical resort is a bit of a step up experience-wise from swimming at the YMCA. The novelty of a half-mile wide pool probably is a draw for some people. It'd be cool to swim in it once.
