I was actually disappointed when it was revealed that this game is more of a 3D fighting game than a beat em up, so this demo will probably be what convinces me one way or the other whether it's worth a purchase. If it feels more like God Hand than WWE, I might bite when it reaches the bargain bin.

Funny how everyone is so excited for this now. The threads for this game had so many people saying they were going to skip it before T_T.

Glad their are fans who are excited for it :)

Is the demo scheduled for NA too? If not I'll have to download it off the internet and burn it(completely legal under MS tos, and easy to do)

The other anarchy reigns thread was saying the game itself may not even be NA bound. The game's been getting delisted.

Platinum has gone on record saying that this game will definitely be released in July, just that it's up to Sega to decide the release date.

No, they said it's up to sega what happens to the game in the west. And we should import it.

Unless the second sentence is meant to mean that the Japanese version will still be out in July, then that's pretty solid stating that it will come out here.

Finally, we break the bad news about Anarchy Reigns US/EU release date – SEGA has decided to change the date to TBC. While our work on the game is finished, localized, and ready to go, as publisher, SEGA gets to make the final decision as to when it is released. The Japanese release date, however, remains unchanged for July 5, 2012.

July 5th is the date for the japanese version.

Japan version is out in July. Up in the air regarding the NA/EU release, as stated.

But... :( I will preorder if needed, Sega only has to cover the preordered copies! Anything :(

C'mon Sega, don't break my heart with one of the four games I really want this year...

Not necessarily. Namco did the same thing with Ridge Racer: Unbounded. Un-listing a release date might be a negotiation tactic or have some other implications that I'm not aware of. But I won't be doing any importing until there's some concrete news about the US release status and region protection.

The demo should be out in JP tonight, due to time zone differences, but it might require XBL Gold. This was Sega's opportunity to generate global pre-order buzz and they're wasting it. Really disappointed at them right now.

If it is a full blown cancel though then this is a pretty rare event. Usually these things don't go and happen just a month or two from release unless something's horribly wrong, for Thrill Kill it was pushing an extreme EA didn't want (and being awful apparently), for NBA Elite it was being amazingly bad, and this would be the casualty of SEGA having a massive meltdown.

Nothing has even hinted it's a full blown cancel. There are obvious reasons why Sega wouldn't release it in the west.

But the game is even localized. That IS an obvious reason to release, I would think.

They still would have to print the discs and whatnot. No reason why they couldn't release it digitally though if every things done. But Sega are fucking morons.

Yeah, sure, printing and distributing discs they might not want to do it, but a digital release as you say... Sega please, don't be fucking morons this time :(

I think the JP XBL marketplace updates at 2:00 PM Thursday local time (about 10:00 PM Wednesday evening where I live). So in about 5 more hours. PSN will probably follow about four hours after that. But it's a gamble on whether the XBL version will be region or Gold-locked.

Just to clear up any remaining confusion:

Max Anarchy releases in Japan on July 5th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is fully localized; i.e. all voice acting, menus, and text are available in five languages.

It's localized but the 360 version is still region locked I'm assuming? I'll decide after the demo, but PS3 import is in my future.

I saw a post on another forum (from PlatinumJP I think) that said the 360 version *should* be region free, but I wouldn't order a thing without verification.

how hard would it be for them to just release it as a downloadable only game for NA/EU. best way to avoid piracy and other financial holes.
