Too many QTE's, not interested in having sore thumbs. Shame, it actually looks pretty interesting compared to the last showing at captivate.

Those awful enemy designs doesn't fit a survival horror game, even less with all those orange blurbs glowing.

Also there was something really quirky and unique about lost planet, and now it's Dead Space with QTE's and awful enemy designs.

They have, actually (as was the case with Eighting for MvC3/UMvC3), just not with Western ones as a result of the lack of English documentation.

i usually panic when a non-japanese studio gets a hold of an IP i really enjoyed the last entry in, LP2 was a wonderfully FUN single and multiplayer experience..I'm not panicking, as i've already consigned this ill advised genre soup fail to failure, at least as far as my expectations are concerned.

Wow. Lost planet formula was a few tweaks away from being great. This game will bomb like RED FACTION Armageddon changing the RED Faction: Guerrilla's formula. Bad move Capcom.

Ah, so it will be in line with its predecessor, at least.

After watching the video in the OP, I hope that there's at least more than just one standard mech to use. The main character looks goofy in nearly every second of in game footage that he appears in, which is also pretty silly. Other than those two things, nothing else looked really noteworthy, but I'll be keeping an eye on the game.

This game isn't sitting well with me and that's even after sitting through the atrocity that was Lost Planet 2. I was ultra skeptical of this game because it was being developed by some low credential, shit track record dev team. This video hasn't changed my mind either. Gotta echo the sentiments towards the QTE emphasis and Dead Space-like vibe/setting. Ugh, so uninteresting and sleepy.

Man, I already miss the days when I THOUGHT Capcom had something going with Lost Planet and Dead Rising. I legitimately loved the first DR and LP back in my XBOX360 days and I genuinely thought they were going to be Capcom's PS2 era equivalents to say Onimusha. Man, how quickly they shot those expectations down. Dead Rising has been dead in my mind since DR2 and Lost Planet, well, things are only getting worse it seems.

The original Lost Planet I thought was somewhat of a modern day Contra. Point A to B stage design, cool enemy variety, awesome, challenging bosses, etc. Getting that Extreme difficulty achievement was so rewarding back then. It was a pretty hardcore game. Sure, it could have used some more singleplayer unlocks/replay incentives, but it was still a fun and rewarding experience. Then we got LP2 and it was just a mindless, janky, COOP mess of a game with a slot reel ranking system. Terrible.

well beyond the obvious game design they're going with(most people have pointed out the issues already)..

The graphics kinda suck, i understand its an early demo, i'll give em that, but there's near zero lighting throughout the demo, the snow FX are pretty backwards compare with other games and the animation is super jumpy.

Looks ok. Not really liking the animation for entering the mech and some other stuff. Feels a little unpolished. Sure the game isn't done yet, but since it's from the "Turning Point" developers I don't have too much faith.

Is it rumored or confirmed that Dead Space 3 is taking place on an icy planet? Either way, this is what I pictured when I heard about Dead Space 3.

Minus the mechs.

There ain't much QTEs; i fact I only encountered once during the playable demo. Later on where you fight the giant crab with your mech - which you can see in the video obviously -, the game advises you to press LT for grabbing the crab's arm, so it's kind of help. Nevertheless you can ingore it and fight the way you want - or at least how the rig is capable of ;-)

You killed these enemies by the dozen via super action madness in the first two games so it's kind a hard to suddenly be expected to see them as scary.

Feeling pessimistic about this but I'll wait and see.

Oh my god that's such a good move from Capcom.
They didn't show any gameplay until right before E3.

If Dead Space 3 exists, it'll probably be shown at E3 at one of the conferences (with a demo or something).
Dead Space 3 is rumored to be set on a icy planet.

They're both set in a winter setting and have similar gameplay.

Because of this, visceral games will be the ones seeming to have ripped off the other one.

I dunno, this looks kinda awesome.

The on foot and gunplay looks a little lacking, but the atmosphere, mechs, etc seem to more than make up for it. Plus it is damn impressive looking. This looks like it could honestly be a lot of fun.

QTE's sure are a hate-love thing for me but shit ... I like what I see here! But hmmm Spark ... I gave you a benefit of a doubt with Legendary (I'm not going to write its full name since it is stupid as hell ...) and I was wronged. I kinda enjoyed it in a guilty way but ... damn some stuff were rough.

I absolutely loved LP2's CO-OP play. I always had at least 2 other people to play with. The game actually came together rather well if you played it all the way through. And I cant get enough of the celebration animations man!!!!!

Atmosphere and graphics are decent but game play is generic as hell. This isn't classic LP at all... why even call it LP3?

It's clearly a reboot/reinvisioning/spin off. About the only thing this game has from the previous LP games is snow and aliens with orange weak spots.

Played the game, interviewed the producer and wrote about it:

http://eat-games.tumblr.com/post/241...-lost-planet-3

Quote:
The start of the Lost Planet 3 E3 demo follows blue-collar worker, Jim, sloshing through his daily routine. He wakes up melancholy, records a video for his lovely wife & daughter back on Earth wondering what the hell he’s doing, and then bolts out the door to mine for thermal energy. I like Jim. He’s the kind of guy you’d invite over to your place for a few beers just to hear him his talk about all his wacky adventures on an alien planet.

But will the Lost Planet 3 gameplay draw us in too? After all this isn’t going to be an experience like previous games in the series. It’s not being built from the ground up around cooperative play, oh no, that wasn’t even mentioned. This one has a 3rd-person perspective that is slightly tighter to heightening the tension and bringing you closer to the action. You now drive a Vital Suit (VS) completely from a 1st-person perspective, and if not careful, might seize up if you get caught in an Ice Storm.

It also appears Lost Planet 3 is going for more dramatic intensity in it’s narrative and gameplay. There was one segment I played were the atmosphere was obviously well steeped in the Dead Space gravy (more about that in the interview below), and to be honest it worked rather well with the frigid, creepy environments. In fact I enjoyed it more than the outdoor action in the VS. I have hopes LP3 will be good, but they need to work out some of the tedious things like the repetitive QTE.

:D

Yes it opens up quite a bit, but it’s not a true open world game in a [Grand Theft Auto] sense where you go anywhere and do anything at any time. What we call it in our lingo is hub-and-spoke, and there are several of these throughout the game. Those will branch off and pass through to other areas, and those will have missions and objectives within them. So, with these hub areas, you will be going back and forth to visit several times, and that’s where our dynamic storm system comes in handy. You saw the storms in the demo right?
And fast travel, too.

I'm ever so slightly more hyped.

Yeah, it's a game I honestly wasn't very interested in playing, but I think it has promise. Also, Metroid inspired:

Quote:
Another thing we’re doing is—you know, again, if you’re going to steal, steal from the best—is the Metroid style of “I know i can get there, but I can’t get there now, later on after I upgrade to X, Y or Z, then I’m going to be able to access this new area”.

Those provide the spokes. So some areas you’ll be able to access right off the bat, some will be obtained through narrative upgrades, and there will be areas you will have to go and others that are completely optional that are there for people to explore.
