Quiznos (at least where I live) just received a huge price increase on all their sandwiches, so I avoid that place.

I went to the local one in GNV all the time, but it just wasn't my thing. The subs were more expensive than Subways and though the meat was a bit better, their veggies were all bland, as if they're stuck in a freeze until all flavor and nutritional value are gone. Also, the local guys running it were douches.

Quizno's corporate just won't let the franchisees make any money. If your owners and manager can't make any money, the whole franchise system falls apart. |

Compared to my experience with Subway in southern California where I grew up, Japan Subway is very inflexible in how a sandwich can be ordered most specifically that they charge for extra lettuce and CHEESE fuck that. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't ask for extra lettuce or cheese because they usually hook you up good but the standard operation procedure for most sandwiches there is TWO lonely slices of cheese and a teensy pinch of lettuce per 5 inch loaf. Quite different from the stacked on cheese I remember back in San Diego. They don't even offer banana peppers or Provolone cheese. The cost of Subway sandwiches in Japan are about 10-20 percent more than what they cost in the US as well and this isn't due to exchange rates. It was like this back when it was nearly 100 yen to the dollar back in 2004. I love Subway but I rarely go in Japan anymore because of the above reasons. It just ain't right. |

It feels very hack-ish for comedians to spend long routines complaining about food that they already knew was garbage before they bought it. It's the "What's up with airline food?" bit re-tooled for the 21st century. Oh, your 59 cent cheeseburger sucked? Your TV frozen dinner had disgusting gravy? They didn't slap a 1/2 pound of meat onto your $5 footlong sub? How is this a surprise to you? You've been living in a fast food culture for decades - you should know that this stuff is about speed and convenience over quality and service.
And yes, I'll echo the sentiment that it's annoying when talk show hosts have comedians on and just let them do bits. Even moreso here, where Fallon acts like he's busting a gut over jokes that aren't that strong and he's probably already heard before. I'm sure he's a friend and they're glad to have him as a guest, but you don't have to sell Gaffigan that hard. |

Favourite Subway memories:
- Putting on extremelly loud abrasive music to "drive out" customers near closing time - Randomly ringing up meat subs as veggies for customers I liked - Throwing uncooked bread dough at each other - Putting on the "donald duck blow job" skit at innapropriate times - Getting high in the freezer - Taking sauce bottles and using them to draw giant penises on the road Plenty of good times, and I met one of my best friends there. Our boss was a jerk, so we had no qualms about being inappropriate. |

When it comes to chains in Chicago, I go 1. Potbelly's 2. Jimmy Johns 15. Subway. Mostly brown bag during the week, but there's a little Italian sandwich shop called J&C Bombacigno's down the street from work. Too good. Too good. Just a buck or two more than the other guys. |

I love Subway. I've been going there once a week since 2002 and I've been ordering a Chicken Terayaki footlong since it debuted at my local chain in 2004.
It's the only good Sub shop that I've had. Quiznos was junk, which lead to most going out of business in my area. Local deli shops are not any good and usually too expensive for what they offer.

If you happen to live in the midwest, and haven't been there yet, I'd like to recommend Penn Station.
Pretty much the best sub I've ever had. Grilled, great options, hand-cut fries, and fresh-squeezed lemonade.

I like Subway for what it is. I don't take it as competing with a real sandwich place, but it's great for road trips where your other options are McDonald's and the like. It's quick, and the sandwiches are easy to eat with one hand while driving (without being messy). Plus they seem to always share real estate with gas stations.
Local places all the way when I've got a bit more time and just want a good sandwich, though. |

I'll take a Jimmy John's $4.75 8 inch sub over a subway footlong any day. Not quite as much food(although not much less, given how Subways shitty bread is all air and compresses down to the size of a slice of white bread when you pick it up), but the higher quality ingredients, not having to pick out toppings, and better service make it worth.

Man fuck subway hate. Im literally the only one that likes them in my group of people I know at school. It makes no sense why not to like them. Ok they aren't the tastiest place ever (obviously), but when it's lunch and I need something quick, fast, healthier and cheap. It's unbeatable. And it's seriously the closest place to our campus. So we have to go travel around looking for 'bad for you food', that cost more and is farther away.
When I can just spend 5 bucks get a healthy footlong, that will leave me filled for most of the day. >:| I never get to go though! Why does everyone have to act like snobby asshats when it comes to lunch? And want to spend 10 bucks on something we have to scarf down in 30 minutes. Save that for dinner, when you have time to relax and enjoy. |

I eat Subway's Meatball footlong semi-regularly (because it's cheap and I don't care about my body), but I agree about local being better. There was a place in my hometown, run by a wonderful Greek lady, that sold 2 footlong chicken subs for 8 bucks (and this is in Canada, so we're used to getting fucked in the ass food cost-wise). Not processed either, and enough food for the entire day. I wistfully think of that place all the time.

I don't hate subway. I find a couple of their subs alright, but they are in the end fast food. They just don't have the same quality as local delis, not that it's surprising or anything.
My favorite sandwich place right now is Los Gatos Meats & Smokehouse. ![]() This place is awesome. Their bread is delivered daily and they cut the meat per sandwich, plus they load them pretty high. They also BBQ tri tip out front and make great tri tip sandwiches. Their dutch crunch bread is to die for. They also process wild animal there so they have a freezer to the left of the deli counter full of cool shit like boar, bison, rabbit, and quail. If you in the south bay near Los Gatos you should try this place, you wont be disappointed. ![]() Probably gonna go there tomorrow. |

My problem with Subway is the quality of the meats and bread. Even cheap, why should I pay for something I make better?
I can buy the meats at the deli and it's much, much better quality. Subway turkey/ham/etc is so bland. The bread is terrible. Anyone who likes Subway bread must have never had anything but wonderbread, prior. Their bread is some of the most tasteless, boring bread you'll ever have. So for that reason, I will never look to eat at Subway. Much like I don't eat at McD or the like since I cook better burgers (for cheaper mind you) on my own. That said, if you're not able to make yourself a sandwich or buy a better one at a deli/market, Subway is a much better alternative to KFC/Taco Bell/burger fast food joints. The food is passable. In a mall and hungry but don't want to eat greasy fast food? go for it. I can make every Subway sandwich cheaper and better at home. No thanks. |

I love these Yelp reviews, because they're pretty much all spot on. The lady who runs the place is a witch. http://www.yelp.com/biz/subway-sandw...ds-portland-13 If Subway is godawful, this is like the worst of the worst Subway. It's SO bad. P.S. Good job, person who said Jimmy John's. Still though, mom and pop smaller places are the best.
