I'm actually upgrading my rig mainly to bench this game. Will probably double dip for 360, or at least a rent.

Looks so amazing! Apparently the vid wasn't supposed to be published yet =/

I loved and played the hell out of the STALKER series but Metro 2033 fell kind of short for me, really. It felt janky, the monsters just soaked up bullets and didn't even respond to getting shot at and the breathing mechanic was just unnecessary. On the other hand the story was kind of neat and I did like the atmosphere, so I'm going to give this a chance.

He says in the video that the PC, 360 and PS3 releases are priority, and that the Wii U version is unlikely to launch at the same time.

Textures are pretty low-res in some parts, and your flashlight isn't casting enough shadows, 360 version perhaps

Oops, just finished the video, I wonder how much of a delay they are expecting between the 360/PS3 release and the Wii U one.

Disappointing to hear, but if they take the additional time to use the system and controller correctly, then it's a fair trade.

Game continues to look amazing.

Also, for board fodder, he calls the PS360/PC current gen existing platforms and he doesn't lump the Wii U into that classification ;)

Hopefully they dont listen to the bullshit complains some people made. Armor on enemies was easy enough to shoot around and get 1-2 hit kills. You dont aim at a persons helmet/mask you would aim at their exposed neck. Ammo was plentiful even on the hardest of difficulties. Some people spray like idiots and then complain the game was impossible.

Last Light also to be better optimized, include Multiplayer component!! #31

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ND2h...eature=related

Quote:
n the video, Beynon talks about how the 2012-bound title is already better optimized than its predecessor, Metro 2033. In the past, PC gamers have complained that a super computer would be needed to max out the 2010-released title. However, 4A Games was able to run an alpha build of Last Light on a single GeForce GTX 590 smoothly in 1080p with all the bells and whistles enabled.
Quote:
Some of the technical features that Last Light will support are DirectX 11, Tessellation, advanced depth of field, dynamic physics movements, volumetric fog, and large amounts of particle effects. Beynon talks about how proud 4A Games is to be a PC developer and said the company has a desire to make high-end PCs sing.
Quote:
While Last Light's single-player portion appears to be shaping up nicely. Beynon confirmed that the game will also feature a multiplayer component. Assuaging fears that adding multiplayer may detract from the single-player campaign, Beynon said, "Trust us." While he didn't elaborate on the multiplayer, he added, "It's something we really wanted to do."
Perhaps a thread title update is in order?? Sorry about that, I just found this.

EDIT: Wow, just realized this vid was from back in August haha

Kinda crazy how visibly better than the last one it looks even though the vid is low res...

I guess a lot of that is better art, animations and extra polish, not necessarily pushing more polys and higher res textures etc.

Although I didn't see the last in all its glory when playing it, and I'm sure it will be the same case for this, I'll get it as it was one of the greatest recent FPS campaigns, more enjoyable and moody than the likes of Half-Life 2 despite minor shortcomings like the occasional glitch, awful character faces, and slightly dodgy (but imo not as much as people made it out to be) damage values.

We need more games like this, it's kind of a first person (and neat, not totally stupid plot wise) Resident Evil style game rather than a COD shooting gallery as even though it's not open world like STALKER you still feel like you're exploring areas and scavening for stuff. I hope that aspect has been cranked up to eleven rather than simplified to be more like games it shouldn't try to be.

Of course they've already said there's multiplayer, hopefully the single player wasn't compromised and the multiplayer is unique.

Lighting looks fantastic. The new game mode, or difficulty in 2033 already did some of those survival things (got rid of bullet sponges, lesser ammo etc.) so I am really liking what I hear.

Lighting looks fantastic, but I'm really impressed by the animation routines shown here and in the earlier trailers.

Really stands out to me here though. Probably because of the focus on non humanoid creatures.

I noticed that in the majority of the scenes shown you're following someone... I hope it's not gone all Homefront on us... The original had several scenes like that too but... I'd rather see less of that. Hopefully it at least gives you more control over progressing and it feels like he's the one tagging along for the ride and also doing his thing independently of you, not the opposite... So like you could go in a new room and he'd pretend to check one side while you do the other the way you'd do it alone and maybe you'll be the one coming across something (an item, enemy, or just the exit, then calling him over for it) or he will... And hopefully he can also die outside scripted occasions if you don't cooperate well while you can continue solo and have the story get tweaked accordingly if he was supposed to play a part in it rather than get a game over screen. Maybe he can also react to your behaviour, like if you're being a wimp and constantly urging him forward and to be the one checking on stuff. Like in that scene with the spider, you could have urged him to go first and he'd be the one getting it on his face and then swearing at you. But alternatively he could also be the one hoarding some of the ammo and items so that you have a reason beyong being called names to go in head first too. Small details like that. Replace he with she or they, whichever is applicable based on the story point in question.

The entire idea with the airplane having all those skeletons intact and after that to be witness to the entire crash, plus seeing the atomic bomb exploding it just took all my breath with thousands of manly tears.

I need to see this all by myself, badly.

This time, the weather elements are one of the best improvement I've seen on this game so far, dark, grey, scary, frightened. A serious Judgment Day.

Depends on how powerful the WiiU is.

Metro 2033 is still demanding on top of the line rigs at times...

and LL will be much improved graphically.

Though the WiiU will have the benefit of being a closed platform and launching after the rest.

Correct. But 720p, that makes a huuuge difference in performance vs a PC running it at 1080.
