But yeah, The Wasteland was pretty great too.

I just finished this, and thought it was wonderful. Such a great, meaningful addition to the series, and a welcome return to this incredible world King created.
The story-within-a-story structure really highlighted just how talented King is at masterfully creating distinction in language and cadence. The transitions from Roland's ka-tet, to the story Roland tells, to the story within a story are completely identifiable independently, yet all fit the wider universe too. |
