If there was ever a kids movie that could make me cry (not counting lion king), it was this damn sequence in UP.

that ROCKY 4 montage is hilarious.

note that ivan drago's workout is that of a lab rat, contained in a gym and scientifically engineered to be physically strenuous and build a certain kind of strength; rocky, on the other hand, is out in the wilderness doing it the natural way, connected to the earth, pushing around logs and climbing mountains and helping people out of ditches.

funniest montage ever made.

Might not be a montage in the strictest sense, but damnnn the whole Dr Manhattan section in Watchmen is in my opinion one of the best scenes to come in a comic book movie full stop. The music is excellent and perfectly matches the visuals, the scenes just capture the book so well.

The film is as campy as that montage (which is not necessarily a bad thing).
I don't think it's bad, it's a fun, ridiculous movie, that inspired quite a few idiots.

I agree.
If there's one thing Zack Snyder is good at then it's those slow-mo montages.

There even was a good one in Sucker Punch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmXG0dDrNQc

picking up on your sarcasm, which i definitely appreciate. my point wasn't to educate so much as point out how comical the diametric opposites are, subtly transforming rocky into some kind of nouveau shaolin monk in training. the elements are so exaggerated as to border on parodic.

tldr: so on the nose that it's funny.

I just found the montage uplifting and a great way to sell the fight that was about to happen anyway.

what's amazing is that in the context of the movie it DOES totally sell it. in that way it may actually prove the most multifarious montage: hilarious in isolation, incredibly inspiring and bad ass in the film. haha.
