You can probably skip Brotherhood as well and just youtube the nonsensical bit at the end that made me want to scream for getting even more stupid than the ending of 2.
Brotherhood is the best GAME out of the series, but if you only want story beats it's inconsequential. God I fucking hate the sci-fi bullshit and pretty much anything Desmond related |

I don't think it will matter. All of the Animal Crossing games are pretty similar and you won't miss anything story wise.

Why do people keep saying Brotherhood is the best? ACII was much better. Brotherhood is not only much shorter than ACII, the mission's aren't as varied and the ending (of the Ezio story) is a complete clusterfuck (especially the last mission with the boss fight).

Bad idea. It's my favorite game in the series (the only one where assassinations feel like an actual accomplishment), and you could easily rush through it in about 12 hours.
If you play just for the story and ignore all the side stuff, all the AC games are pretty short. I recommend this playing style for every game in the series. You can avoid much of the often criticized repetitiveness by doing this. |

I found ACII better than AC:B but that's because there are lots of places to go to in ACII. AC:B stuck to one very big city and very small side areas.

Brotherhood - Yes, definitely. Best game in the series.
Revelations - Maybe if you're still desperate for some more AC action afterwards. It's not a bad game, just a little underwhelming compared to the steps taken in each of the previous two entries. |

Revelations is a good game, but I hate the emphasis on the bombs (which I didn't care for) and with the horrible tower defense game. Because of that, I prefer brotherhood over revelations.

Also, starting with AC2, any sort of stealth element during assassinations was effectively removed. You just waltz into your victims home or crash their parties, and jump directly at them. With the sequels, the sequels gained a lot of superficial variety, but it also let go of some very fun and essential gameplay elements of AC1, which I still miss. |

ac1 - can be very fun at times but is quite unpolished and can get frustrating - would still recommend playing if you're still wanting to assassinate after you've played the rest. better way to catch up with the back story is playing this one, rather than reading about it.
ac2 - must play which you've done, good acb - must play which you should tackle next (some people consider this one milking but i do not) acr - decide after you've played acb if you're invested enough into ezio, if you are then seeing his story wrap up will be a no brainer. its a step backwards in some ways, but that shouldn't get in the way of the story, this one is pretty good.

AC1 had better writing and a much stronger sense of character. with AC2 it felt like they just threw in the towel, lifting the GTA structure, making the tone a lot lighter and cutting out any of the more thought provoking elements in the writing. it's a blockbuster fantasy, templars became moustache twirling da vinci code villains and a lot of unique elements of the aesthetic were lost (what happened to the first person animus?).
but it's not really the audiences fault. i think people would've happily accepted a more refined version of AC1. ubisoft just gave up and changed direction without trying. very disappointing how the series has turned out, but it's still good historical porn in terms of setting. constantinople looks absolutely stunning in revelations - shame about the game surrounding it. they still have a chance to become more cerebral with III, but i doubt they will. why change what ain't broke. people love it, so what do i know.

I am playing Revelations right now, and I am enjoying it immensely. Brotherhood was an amazing game, so if I were you I'd seriously consider playing it.
I think Revelations is a fine game too. Luckily for me, the series doesn't get old because I wait a couple months to play the next installment (I played Brotherhood a week after Revelations came out, and now I am on Revelations). |

You say that like Rev took a dive in quality over Bro. It definitely added some superfluous elements but otherwise wasn't hugely different. I agree that Bro is the best game though.

Assassins Creed >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Assassins Creed 2
AC had the far better story or at least... better story progression... AC2? outside of a few pieces of desmond story... all i can remember is the damn movie clip you unlock. I remember every damn thing about AC because it was amazing. AC has a much more likable character -Ezio has about as much character as a piece of corrugate cardboard, Altair is closer to a cardboard box...he at least has depth the cities felt much more alive in AC too... AC2 feels so damn lifeless compared to AC. Sure, there's more variety... you really don't want to listen to some of the people on GAF regarding this. AC2 was much narrower in scope and yet somehow ended up as a mess compared to the original. |

It's ridiculous how easily the fighting mechanics of this series can be exploited. |
