In an email sent to Eurogamer today to advertise a recruitment event at The Crowne Plaza Baltimore North Hotel on Wednesday 30th May, the Swedish developer said it was ramping up development on multiple current and next-gen console projects due out in 2013 and 2014. It described its open world game as "ground breaking" and an "action title". Avalanche is long-rumoured to be making Just Cause 3, but will it be a current gen or next gen title? In April Christofer Sundberg told Eurogamer Just Cause is "perfect" for the next Xbox and PlayStation 4. In today's email Avalanche confirmed it is working on two further undisclosed projects based on movie and comic book franchises. One of these is thought to be based on upcoming flick Mad Max 4: Fury Road.

Just Cause 3 with a more Saints Row sort of plot would be my perfect open world game. No one plays JC2 for the story, but it's pretty horribly boring. Otherwise the most fun I've had with an open world game tis gen.

Saints Row 3 had a pretty awful and boring plot too, but I think I see what you're saying. The fun in Just Cause comes from embracing the ridiculousness of it and the story should have more insane but awesome moments to it.

Though the last mission in JC2 was pretty awesome chasing the dictator while jumping between the 4 nukes in midair

I think Just Cause and Saints Row have fundementally different ideas of ridiculous gameplay. Just Cause is more focused on emergent gameplay like grappling a tuk tuk to a jumbo jet or dropping buses onto the top of skyscrapers, that kind of thing. Saints Row is more focused on having silly vehicles and weapons in general, and it feels kind of forced to me.

JC3 should only have co-op. I know I'm normally against it but I can't think of a better game that should have had co-op than JC2. It's basically designed to pull off ridiculous shit with friends.

I hope they show something at E3, although I highly doubt they will. So hyped for Just Cause 3, the second is my game of the generation so far. It was so gooood.
